The #1 film of 1999, earning an estimated $430 million in the United States, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, tells of a time long before those of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Although some of the characters from the "original" are younger, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and R2-D2, there are new characters such as Qui-Gon Jinn and Queen Amidala. It all adds to a launching point from where the next two episodes will lead to Episode IV, or commonly known as the original "Star Wars".
