The Swift Creek Elementary School Chess Club offers "Chess Fridays" before school twice a month. Chess club members play chess from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Annual dues are only $3 per child, due on the first "Chess Friday" on Friday, September 20th (make checks payable to SCES PTA/Chess Club). It is helpful if a parent is there during the first few minutes of the first meeting to fill out an information form. Chess boards are available, but players are encouraged to bring their own due to the large number of chess club members. Juice and breakfast snacks (doughnuts, granola bars, etc.) will be available for $.50 each.

The Chess Club also sponsors tournament teams. Coach Peter Hopkins offers classes on Fridays after school for 4th and 5th graders and Coach Cindy Perry offers lessons for students Kindergarten through 3rd grade .
