lifespan 1: Tah-tah, Tiff

First One Out
The votes are in, Cree has spoken, and Tiffany has become the first person voted out of Survivor Canada 3.  This article will analyze the factors behind Tiffany's elimination, her part in the game, and what she could have done to save herself.

The Story of Tiffany
Before going into detail about her departure, we will review what Tiffany did during her short 3 day stay in Northern Ontario.  Unfortunately, this will be very short as Tiffany failed to do much of notice or interest.

Although Tiffany had a few brief conversations with her tribemates and was enthusiastic at the beginning of the game, Tiffany seemed to stop right there.  While everyone else was mingling and introducing themselves, Tiffany did not participate in any of the group's conversations.  Tiffany came off as very sweet, but couldn't break the ice with people to find some common ground to relate and build trust.

Tiffany also failed to participate in either challenge — even when promising to attend a few hours before the immunity.  Her lack of participation contributed to Cree's failure in a very close contest for immunity.

Why Tiffany?
It is unsurprising to see a weak tribe-member receive votes at a first Tribal Council.  Those who voted for her chose as their reason her inactivity in missing the immunity challenge.  But the overwhelming reason is that Tiffany left because she gave up on herself.  And if she wasn't going to fight to keep herself in the game, nobody else was going to fight on her behalf.

Save Yourself, Tiffany!
What could Tiffany have done to avoid this terrible fate?  For starters, she might not have voted herself out!!!  Tiffany was liked well enough by her tribemates, and a token appearance at one of the challenges would likely have saved her.  Even a simple assurance that she'd do better in the future may have turned votes to others who hadn't contributed to the challenges.  Tiffany could also have sought the protection of allies.  Ultimately, though, Tiffany needed to find a way to better schedule her time if she was going to stay in the game.

If Not Tiffany, Then Who?
Did Cree make the right choice voting out Tiffany?  Probably.  She proved to be unreliable, and was unable to lift a finger when her tribe needed help.  But, for the sake of arguing, let's say that Tiffany shouldn't have been the one to go.  Who should it have been then?

Shane C or Janei - These two rival Tiffany in the not-helping category, and should each be wary of the reasons Tiffany was voted out.  Some of Cree were on the fence between voting Tiffany or Shane.  Janei, however, managed to make an early alliance with power-player Karen which may see her safe for a while.

Miriam - Where lack of participation is a problem for others, Miriam has been very active in the challenges.  Ironically, though, her participation was found to be counter-productive to the point where half of her fellow tribemates voted for her!  It would, however, be tragically premature for a hard-worker like Miriam to be voted out so early.

Conclusion
By her own admission, Tiffany was unprepared for what it would take to play Survivor.  Her wish to be taken out of the game was granted.
