lifespan 17: Tabatha Takes Off

Tabatha Rasa
In a 3-1 vote, Tabatha, the finals-assembly worker from Indiana, is voted out of the game, breaking the last of the early alliances... and leaving a clear field for the final three.

Tabatha en Tableau
Tabatha came on strong in the early game and made great contributions to her Paleo tribe.  However, at the fourth Immunity Challenge, Cree forced her to sit out.  This was a wake-up call to Tabatha:  from then on she made an effort to not appear too strong or too active, trying not to make a target of herself.

In alliances, Tabatha built a friendship and partnership with Shane.  Together, they made up half of the final-four alliance within Paleo Pride.  They seemed to be solid and genuine with each other.  But when Shane was voted out and Tabatha found herself vulnerable, she, like Diana, fell under Rick's spell.

Why Tabatha?
Tabatha's efforts to not make a target of herself left her having relatively few conversations with her non-allies in Keyano.  (Who had never been the most communicative in the tribe.)  This may have been in part due to confidence in her final-four majority within the final six.  But with Shane and Diana's eliminations, Tabatha fell into the minority and was the outsider of the tribe.

Although Jon and Kelley didn't exactly trust Rick, they knew Rick better than they knew Tabatha.  Tabatha may have been viewed as unpredictable.  And Rick, without the power of a reward to back him up at the vote, again sided with the majority to guarantee his advancement for another round.

Save Yourself, Tabatha!
Tabatha might have compared notes with Kelley and Jon, who have already discovered Rick's duplicity.  The three of them might have decided Rick was the bigger threat.

Tabatha might have won immunity.  She did try; unfortunately, she was hampered by technical reasons and was barely able to submit an entry to qualify for a Tribal Council vote.  There is little so frustrating as being voted out after being blocked from the Immunity Challenge (at least Miriam saw it coming).

If Not Tabatha, Then Who?
Rick - Kelley and Jon had discovered what a "controlling mastermind" Rick was.  However, having little contact with Tabatha, Rick seemed the safer bet.  What everyone seems to be ignoring is the undisclosed reward Rick won this round, which won't come into play until the final Tribal Council.  If it can't be used until then, it clearly has something to do with the jury — making Rick a definite threat for finals.

Kelley - Kelley has certainly had a lot more wins than Tabatha and would seem the bigger threat.  However, for whatever reasons, Rick was targeting Tabatha well before Kelley won immunity.

Jon - Nobody seems to be considering Jon much of a threat, although aside from Rick and Kelley he has the most individual wins.

Conclusion
Tabatha had locked herself into a final-four alliance and left herself little room to manoeuvre.  As the alliance devoured itself in betrayal after betrayal after betrayal, Tabatha had no outside allies to back her up, and joined the jury dead-on at final four.
