Mike Check
Test, Test... After a lackadaisical performance, Mike is voted out by his tribemates 6-1.
Mike's Meandering
Mike began the game as a decent player, taking part in the first challenge and making an early alliance with Rob and Karen. Unfortunately, Mike did not keep up his momentum with either challenges or alliances. Mike wanted to do some plotting, but a conspiracy requires more than one person and he never seemed able to get together with his tribemates. Mike became demoralized about this, feeling left out of the loop.
Why Mike?
Mike had missed the last four challenges leading up to his elimination, and had received penalty self-votes at the last two tribal councils. His once-allies could not count on his vote, and he was providing nothing to competitions. There was no reason for any of his tribemates to keep him.
What Could Mike Have Done?
Mike would have had to play the game if he wanted to stay in the game. Not "play" in the sense of exploiting or manipulating, but simply participating in the game. And so Mike could have done anything... even minimal appearances at challenges, voting at tribal councils, and not being a stranger. Mike did none of this.
Who Else Could it Have Been?
Mike's time had come. There is really only one other possible elimination worth considering:
Aiden - Aiden has missed the last three challenges and also received self-votes at the last two tribal councils. However, Aiden has attended twice as many challenges as Mike. The only reason for Aiden to go before Mike is if the Karen-Rob-Janei alliance feared Aiden returning to side with Staton and Miriam in a 3-3 split. However, Staton and Miriam have gotten into the good graces of their tribemates, and this close to a merge none of them want to see their tribe divided.
Conclusion
Essentially, Mike was already out of the game. This made it official.
