GREG: Hi everyone! It's me, Greg, the self-important lurker and voyeur... I mean, episode writer. Today we have our special guest, Miriam. Welcome, Miriam!
MIRIAM: Hi, Greg!!
GREG: I guess that I gushed enough about you in the lifespan article, any comments on that?
MIRIAM: I am very appreciative of your comments, Greg. You wrote very accurately and objectively. Thank you!
GREG: The merge has been pretty insane. Staton loses immunity by a single point and is voted out; Michelle loses immunity in a tie and is voted out; and you were forced to sit out of the immunity challenge before you were voted out. Do you think the rest of the game will be so closely contested?
MIRIAM: No, the Cree tribe (the last three of us) had to fight for everything. We began the merge very outnumbered. We had to fight harder... Paleo didn't know what it felt like to vote off one of their own. Michelle was a maneuver, it wasn't that much of a sacrifice.
GREG: I've asked Staton this, and I'd like to ask you as well. If you had gotten together with a few others and voted Rob out of Cree, do you think that would have changed anything for your original tribe?
MIRIAM: Absolutely! If Vince had stayed and Aiden... we would have had a chance!
GREG: You came up with the name Keyano for the merged tribe. How did you come up with that name, and is there a special meaning to it?
MIRIAM: When the merge happened, Zoe asked us to come up with a name, so I went on google and did a search for Indian names meaning unity. It popped up with the word Keyano... and that word in the Cree language means unity. I thought that was really cool. None of the others picked up on [the Cree connection] and they went along with my suggestion.
GREG: I guess the big question: Michelle suggested a deal to you but had to check with her allies. When you later talked to them, you spilled the entire conversation to Shane. Why did you do that?
MIRIAM: Because I didn't trust Michelle. In the conversation she told me not to talk with the "others". Well... after a day, I felt compelled to at least "fish" and see if I was making a mistake believing her.
GREG: So much of Survivor is about adapting to the changing politics of the game. You knew at that point that Paleo was divided. Why didn't you also inform Jon, Kelley and Diana, who were outsiders in their own tribe? Diana was a mole for Rick, but Jon and Kelley were vulnerable, and Michelle was being targeted, so that was a perfect opportunity for you to assemble a counter-alliance with them, yourself, Michelle and Janei.
MIRIAM: Well... first remember I barely knew Paleo. I didn't tell Jon, Kelley and Diana because apparently Shane had already talked to them. Kelley was off the internet for a few days. I had no idea about Diana and Rick's alliance, and honestly thought that Diana was the most honest player out of Paleo. The counter alliance wouldn't fly because I didn't trust Michelle or Janei. I may have forgiven, but not forgotten.
GREG: What is your most memorable moment in the game?
MIRIAM: Winning Keyano's first Immunity and surviving another week!
GREG: Which would you say was your favourite challenge?
MIRIAM: Honestly it was a challenge that didn't even count! The one were you had song lyrics and had to figure out what TV show they belonged to. I got them all right, but I was already voted out. It was so much fun.
GREG: Goodness! See, now that is why you're my favourite player! You keep on playing, and you play just for the fun of it. Is that your advice for aspiring Survivors?
MIRIAM: Yes! Have fun and try to remember we aren't here to win a million bucks, but can sure make good friends!
GREG: Thanks very much for the interview, Miriam. It was great getting a chance to chat with you.
