GREG: Hello, everyone, and welcome to Good Morning with Greg! Today we welcome one of the more memorable players on Survivor Canada 3... the devilish Diana! Hello, Diana, and welcome. I hope you don't mind me calling you devilish.
DIANA: Greg, you're insane! And devilish is my middle name.
GREG: Your final words may be the most fiery thing we've seen to date. A lot of the final four seemed to have taken it way too literally, though. What's the matter, don't they get sarcasm?
DIANA: Well, I believe I've played the game the same throughout, with a sense of humor yet seriously. Everyone wants to win, I would lie if I didn't say that, but my final words were in the spirit of Susan Hawke, only as sarcasm. I am surprised they took it seriously, we all had our moments of anger, I not the least among them, but I still consider most my friends (except for Shane who was incredibly pissed off at being voted off — I don't get that).
GREG: You became somewhat less active in the last few days of the game. Rick even used it as an excuse in his vote reason. How much would you say that contributed to your elimination?
DIANA: Yes, I confess that my personal life at that moment was interfering with giving the game my all. I did say to Rick that I almost wanted to be voted off, because I was truly physically exhausted, but I relented immediately. He conveniently forgot that portion of our conversation.
GREG: Ah, Rick. For the longest time, it seemed, I kept hoping that you would catch on to Rick's scheming and vote him out. He'd realized that you were his greatest threat, and he was such a strategic player he couldn't ignore that. Did it not occur to you?
DIANA: Surprisingly, no it didn't occur to me. It was the most incredibly stupid assumption on my part that he would stick with me to the end. I played with Rick once before, and he was as scheming as he was in this one — only he perfected it this time! I should have seen it coming, but I let my friendship cloud my judgement. It was just 'business', the two should not mingle, it was a lesson learned.
GREG: I think we've all been there. (I certainly was in SC2). You seemed to have a lot of options open to you, maybe moreso than any other player. If you could play the game over, would you do anything differently?
DIANA: That's a tough one Greg, its easy to say what I would do with the benefit of hindsight. I think I made many good choices in alliances and friends (of whom I'm happy to report I'm still friends with many of them). Perhaps a little bit of deceit on my part would have helped, and I don't think I'd try to allow myself to be so incredibly popular, indeed as stated in the eps, it was the kiss of death. I have to be more of a bitch, I suppose.
GREG: Let's not go that far! (laughs) In All-Stars, perhaps popularity will be spread out enough that you won't stand out so far ahead of the crowd.
GREG: There was a wonderful little thing you said after Paleo lost the first reward challenge. You said, "We're off to a crappy start ... I have a feeling this is gonna be the losing tribe." Comments?
DIANA: I think I spoke too soon, I found from reading and participating in other online games, that once you lose the first challenge, it's downhill from there. I'm pleased that I was wrong in my assumption. For all his little subplotting, Rick was truly a great leader.
GREG: Do you have any advice for the fans out there who might be thinking of playing a game like this?
DIANA: Well, I would say, keep focused, but remember that it's not just about winning. The reason for Survivor's popularity is that it is a microcosm of how society gets along, never forget that you are dealing with people and their feelings. It's not enough to win, you have to be open to people and it will, in the end, make you a richer person.
GREG: Thanks so much for the interview, Diana. It was a real pleasure!
DIANA: I've blabbed enough thanks so much Greg, can't wait to see you in the wilderness for All-Stars! :)
