Before I get to the predictions for Vengeance, I'll make a few comments. First, I'm glad as hell that the whole nWo storyline is dead. I can understand why Vince thought the idea would work, the concept was sound and the interest was there. However, the problem was the workers. Scott Hall, while the most talented of the group, has demons he has been unable to deal with throughout his career. Why should now be any different? Hogan and Nash? Far too old. While not still part of the nWo, Hogan has managed to bring WWE momentum to a halt, and Nash has been in two matches on WWE TV, getting injured both times. Then, when he wasn't wrestling, his bad attitude showed when he seemed disinterested in many of his promos. I'm glad they didn't drag Triple H down with the sinking ship.
I'm not really looking all that forward to this PPV. The only compelling match for me is the main-event. I was looking forward to Edge vs. Jericho, but alas, that is no more. Did Jericho piss somebody off? Unless he's thrown in a match in the next couple of days, this will be the second PPV this year he's been off the card. When he has wrestled, he's been great. But, I guess they have to make room for Booker T versus the Big Show, the fans demand it. Hopefully, this'll surprise me; otherwise it'll be a long night.

I think this matchup will be a lot better than their match at King of the Ring, since it will not be the second match of the night for both men and they've had more time to feel each other out. Plus, Lesnar has to start showing that he deserves the push he's been getting or the fans will great really antsy about ordering WWE's second biggest PPV of the year. They took a big risk putting The Next Big Thing in the main event for the summer, so I think WWE will give it all the push they can muster by having Brock go in with his winning-streak intact, and as Intercontinental Champion. Then, the main event for Summerslam can be title vs. title. Losing to Brock (especially if its close, or the result of outside interference) won't slow RVD's momentum, but losing to RVD, a month before he headlines a PPV, would kill Lesnar's momentum.
Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar

I'm really excited about Edge's push. I'm really excited about the new anti-American roles for Lance Storm, Christian, and Test. I could care less about Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Thus, my anticipation for this matchup is tepid, at best. I know they have to keep finding stuff for Hogan to do, while he's still getting pops (why, I don't know; what's wrong with these people), but did they have to get Edge involved? I think they took him out of a match with Jericho and put him in this tag-team situation because he was still a little too injured to wrestle in singles competition. Although, the way he has to cover for Hogan's inequities, how is this different? In any case, this tag team thing is little more than a diversion for Edge, a diversion which should end Sunday. I'm glad the tag team division has been shaping up over the past couple of weeks, and it should only improve with Storm and Christian as champs. Look for Jericho to interfere, costing Edge a victory, and possibly joining the anti-Americans.
Predicted Winner: Lance Storm and Christian

I've slammed both these guys pretty hard of late, and I'll probably continue, but I'll give them a chance. Show did a good job in displaying his awesome power by manhandling Booker T on RAW, and Booker's goofy vignettes with Golddust have really helped him as a face. Maybe Booker will work as face, because he was a failure as a heel. In any case, I don't see The Big Show getting in the way of Booker T's push, especially now that his nWo meal-ticket is gone, so look for the Bookerman to win this one, possibly with the help of Golddust.
Predicted Winner: Booker T

WWE is really trying to establish the cruiserweight division, huh? They made sure the title would be defended on a PPV, even though no significant feud had been developed between the two combatants. Meanwhile, two more compelling champions, Jeff Hardy (European) and Bradshaw (Hardcore) are without matches (although one of them will probably defend on the Sunday Night Heat lead-in. Even though the title has been a hot potato of late, I predict the redneck champ will hang on and win this Sunday, giving his character more time to develop. That is, until Rey Mysterio begins what should be a long Cruiserweight Championship run; my guess would be some time around Summerslam.
Predicted Winner: Jamie Noble

I don't really care about this match at all, but it could be good, since Guerrero and Benoit are two of the best. Hopefully this will end their little feud with the Dudley brothers so they can move on to bigger and better things such as matches with Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam or Triple H. I suppose the Dudleys could win this match if WWE wants to split Eddie and Benoit, but I don't think they do right now, so this one should be fairly predictable.
Predicted Winner: Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit

Where will Triple H go, RAW or Smackdown? My guess is RAW, in fact, that's why I pegged him to beat The Undertaker last month, because RAW needs Triple H. Smackdown is doing fine, with Kurt Angle, Edge, Chris Jericho and the return of The Rock. But RAW has a void to fill with the absence of Stone Cold, a void Kevin Nash was unable to fill. The stage is set: Triple H has unfinished business with RAW's Undertaker and Shawn Michaels (providing HBK stays on RAW), and he wouldn't want to help Stephanie out on Smackdown. So the salvo in the new GM wars will go to Bischoff, but Stephanie will get a victory somewhere. My only problem with this angle: when Bischoff was saying he always wanted one guy, one guy he could never get, one guy that would have led Nitro to victory: Triple H. The problem is, Helmsley did work for WCW, they just didn't do anything with him.
Predicted Outcome: Triple H signs with RAW

This is the match I want to see, which of course, is what main-events are all about. Still, they usually put together a stronger undercard. I think they were working towards things but injuries to Triple H and Nash mucked it up. Hopefully, WWE will give over half an hour for this match and let the three best (healthy) men in the company carry this show. I think the most exciting thing going into this match is that it makes sense for any of the three combatants to win. The Rock is obvious; his star power is exactly what WWE needs to help sagging ratings and buy rates. The Undertaker has been a great champion, and the longer he remains champion the more prestige is returned to the WWE Championship, prestige lost in the Jericho to Triple H to Hogan to Undertaker exchange over the past five months. Plus, seeds have been sown between him and the next number one contender for the title, Brock Lesnar. Still, my pick for this match is Kurt Angle. He is the best in the game today, and will have the best chance in bringing out the best in Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. He and Brock can also play up their amateur backgrounds to build heat. Now, it'll be a bit of a problem that they're both heels, but I see a face turn for Lesnar coming up anyway (his recent flashes of independence from Heyman point in that direction).
Predicted Winner: Kurt Angle
