AIT Day 9
October 5th, 2002
The rec center's great. I spent a lot of hours there last night. They have Web TVs, PS2s, Xbox, Game Cubes, arcade games, pool, a jukebox, DVDs, big screen TVs, a DJ, lights, snack bar, B- ball court, couches, ping pong, and foosball.
Best of all, it's all free, except for the snack bar. All I need is my military ID to check out video games, movies, musical instruments, etc. Most people there are in their civilian clothes. I can't wait until I earn phase 5 privileges. I'll be there in my civies too.
Wake up today was at 0800. That's sleeping in for me. I skipped breakfast and slept some more. My day got crapped on when I found out I had CQ duty today. In the weekend, the CQ desk has to be manned all day. Weekend day shifts are four hours! I'm stuck here from 1230 to 1630. Good thing I found a battle buddy to drop my BDUs off at the cleaners. I have to wash and iron the one I'm wearing and then I don't have to worry about BDUs for about a month.
After I get off duty, I'm going to the gym and rec center. I feel like grabbing a DVD and sitting in a couch for a couple of hours eating pizza. Yep, I have my night set.
We have a formation at 2330 and bed check at 0100. I'll use the time in between to wash BDUs, iron, and shine boots.
CQ is not so bad. People are coming in and out all the time. There are girls here, and they flirt with the CQ guy a lot. I happen to be in Charge of Quarters today. I don't ask for any extra attention. It just comes with the job. Sorry. My shift is almost half over. Woo! Daaamn, those were some tight jeans on that phase 5 girl. I smell perfume, too. Wow. Perfume. I remember when I used to dress up and smell good to go clubbin'. That was only two and a half months ago. I miss those days.
