AIT Day 8

October 4th, 2002

0430 formation this morning. We went on a battalion run. That's three companies. 800 soldiers. It was an awesome sight to be in the middle of hundreds of soldiers. It was about a three mile run. My shins hurt when I run. There might be something wrong with them.

It's Friday! Unlike BCT, I'm supposed to have a weekend. If the DSs don't fuck with us and put us on lockdown because the barracks aren't up to their standards, I'll finally be able to enjoy my AIT privileges. I have not had a chance to go to the rec, gym, library, cleaners. Nothing. I'm planning to do all that. And my mom, dad, and girlfriend are supposed to visit me. I get to stay up until 0100 tonight and tomorrow night. We'll see if my weekend goes to hell or not.

I'm in class right now. We're finding vehicle parts info in technical manuals in the computer. It's easy. I've been done for a while, but I can't move on until everyone is finished. There are 40 of us. YAAAWN. Hurry up, people. There are no games on the computer. I looked. Boooored. AIT is just like school, but more disciplined. When we're in the classroom, it's like college. Sergeants (not DSs) are normal people. They're nice and they are civilized. They teach the classes.

I had Pepsi Blue for the first time since I've been under a rock for 10 weeks. It's good. Maybe I found a new favorite soda. I know you don't care, but I'm bored. If you are still reading, WOW, I admire you.

I went to the rec center, finally.
