AIT Day 18

October 14th, 2002

I am really enjoying AIT. I'm in the middle of a four day weekend. All I've been doing is going to the gym and the rec. I've been on the net a lot, too.

Yesterday, Senior Drill Sergeant Porter took a busload of us off post to a movie theater in a shopping center. Weird thing about him is that he looks a LOT like DS Boston. When I first saw him I was like "Oh shit, not a twin brother." If they are twins, Boston is the evil one. SDS Porter is cool. He dropped us off at the shopping center for four hours and let us do whatever, even those of us who didn't earn off-post privileges yet.

The movie theater had movies that are a little older, but I didn't care. They were all new to someone who was in Pluto for two months. I got to see Austin Powers 3 and it was only $4. They had free popcorn and soda, too.

After the movie the only place left open was a Starbucks with the apostrophe between the C and the K. A bunch of us chilled there and talked about what we'd be doing in a month and a week, our first overnight pass. I must've made DC sound good because a girl from Minnesota invited herself to go with me. She sounds like Bobby's mom in that show Bobby's World. I also have a guy from Ohio wanting to go too. I guess there's not much to do in the Midwest.

Today I'm looking forward to another TV-watching, DVD-watching, gym-going, pool-playing, net-surfing day. I might even check out the co-ed sauna.
