Save Megan and her family!

Please help me and my family!

Greetings Friends! I am humbly asking you for a small donation of just a dollar or two, or whatever you can afford. Why, you ask?

First off, I just want to tell you that I did NOT get into this mess because I'm irresponsible or a shopaholic. Nor am I a substance abuser. We are just a low income family, struggling to get by.

Here's the story from the beginning...

In November 2003, my Mom got married to a guy from Guatemala. I didn't get along with him, so I chose to live with my Grandparents since I had not yet graduated high school and couldn't afford to live on my own. They took care of me the best they could while I got my high school diploma and took a course in photography.

It turns out my instincts we correct about my Mom's husband. He turned out to be a wifebeater and an alcoholic. He told her that if she ever left him, he'd kill her. I was scared for her, but she begged me not to call the police, for fear that he would come after her.

In June 2005 my Mom's husband got arrested. It turns out out he was an illegal alien, so he was deported, leaving my Mom alone to take care of their 6 month old daughter. She also got fired from her job just because she was married to an illegal.(Yes, it's true). She had no one to turn to. My Grandparents couldn't afford to help her out, so I was her only option. I had excellent credit back then, so I helped my mom by paying her bills, buying her groceries, baby needs, etc.

There are not many job opportunities in this area. My Mom worked at Burger King from August 2005 to February 2007. She is currently working at Subway and Bob Evans, and we are still struggling with money. She makes more than minimum wage, but not much more. She has tried to get higher paying jobs, but they go really fast around here.

I am currently working as a state-funded child care provider and a nature photographer. Needless to say, I barely make enough money to live on. My debts are eating my paycheck.

I don't know how much longer my Mom will be able to hold down her job because she has chronic pain caused by several reasons including Scoliosis and Fibromyalgia. She needs neck surgery, but is unable to get it because her insurance doesn't cover it, plus she can't afford to take the time off to recover.

My mom and I decided to start a business. We started a career training course at Penn Foster, but the program costs $2k for both of us and we were unable to keep up the payments, and now the debt is in collection and we are unable to finish the course. We are trying to get grants, but it is a long, difficult process.

My total debt to date is $15,500.00, which does not include the computer payments and the Penn Foster School debt. Our monthly income barely exceeds $1,200. Every bit of it goes to bills and household needs. We have nothing left to save.

So, if you have an extra dollar or two, please don't hesitate to donate! Help me rid poverty from my family's life! Every dollar you donate will go directly to the care of my family, and that is my promise to you.

I will post a progress report in my blog so you can see how My family and I are doing. If you're on MySpace, don't forget to subscribe to my blog before you leave! :-)
