Ah-Ha! Winter break is finally upon me! This should give me a chance to add some new features to the Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks web surfing experience. I’m on a slower connection at home, so I can’t make any promises, but the new editions are going to be popular...I can feel it!

The February 2nd Free Tibet show is totally on! The Boyish Good Looks are playing with two solo performer friends of ours, and something like seven local punk/hardcore/emo bands. Admission is only $5, and it’s going to be a great time. Make a day of it, and help a good cause.

A Special Message For BGL Webpage Contestants:

We've gotten a request in the guestbook for an extension in the BGL Fanpage Contest. Now I'm a pretty lenient guy, and if you need more time, you can have it. However, the due date up to this point has been December 7, and we have to give props to anyone who has his/her page done by then. So I'm going to extend the due date to FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21. However, if you have your page done by December 7, SEND US THE LINK THEN! You will get a few precious bonus points for having your page done by December 7, but you now have until December 21 to finish your works of art.

You're welcome.

NEWS: November 30

Hey kids!

Boy am I ever tired! Because of my being so sleepy, I'll disclose some super-secret info that has been going on behind closed doors...shhh...

Even though we haven't been getting together much as a band, the creative process is still in full flow. We've got TWELVE songs in the process of coming together for the next Boyish Good Looks CD. For the next disc, we plan to write as many songs as possible, and then pick out the very best ones for the CD. The next disc will be a concept album which will explore the fictional adventures of a certain extraordinary young rock and roll band.

We can make no sure promises that the next CD will ever really exist, but honestly, the more CDs we sell, the better our chances will be. Which reminds me...

THE HOLIDAY SEASON HAS BEGUN!!!

Tons and tons of you guys and girls have been waiting for the Holiday time of the year to buy your BGL CDs, T-shirts, and other merchandise. DON'T DELAY! Buy CDs and T-shirts for yourself and ALL of your friends! Do it NOW!!!

Finally, don't forget about your BGL fanpages. DECEMBER 7 is the magic day, but I'll take links to pages before then too. Just find that green "contact" button over there on the left. --Thanks :)

NEWS: November 20

What's up, rock and roll fans?

I can't write much tonight, becuase I am heading out of town in a matter of hours, and I still have to pack. Just don't forget about the contest deadline on DECEMBER 7 (see below). I'm getting excited about that myself - it seems like there will be plenty of good spirited competition.

You know where to find info about buying CDs, t-shirts, and other BGL stuff. Don't forget about Chirstmas!

I won't be able to archive the guestbook until the end of the weekend, so if it fills up, just click on that green "contact" button over to the side of this page, and let us know how rad we are, and of course, how much you liked the Harry Potter movie. I'll be sure to post whatever messages you send us as soon as I make some room in the book.

Everybody have an amazing Thanksgiving!!!

NEWS: November 10

Little known fact: Before "Kids Find 'The Boot...," Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks released an extremely rare E.P. With outtakes and alternate versions from the 'Boot' sessions.

Want a copy? Well we are dying to give one away to the winner of the BRAND NEW CONTEST that will run from now until FRIDAY DECEMBER 7. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is this:

***
DEVELOP YOUR VERY OWN BEN FLASH AND HIS BOYISH GOOD LOOKS FANPAGE AND POST IT ON THE INTERNET!
***

The Fine Print:
Let me make this totally clear: Get a page onto the web ANY way you can figure out how. If you use AOL, you might try 1-2-3 Publish. If you don't use AOL, or want something better, try Geocities, which hosts the BGL page. Geocities lets you put up a page in minutes, like 1-2-3 Publish, but also lets you post the pages you design yourself. Or maybe you have a friend with a webpage who can help you out. Anyway, just pick one of those countless webpage design programs, and start firing away. If you have any questions, or need some help getting started, let us know at [email protected]. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with. This will be the greatest contest EVER if a lot of people do it, so just give it a shot!

There are few to no restrictions on this one. Just make sure you keep your page clean and fun, which I'm sure you were gonna do anyway. The prize will go to the contestant who is the most creative with his/her site. The page must be made for this contest, and not ahead of time. You can use any pictures you want from the BGL website, or the BGL CD :)

To enter, just send the address of your page to the e-mail address above. All the pages you guys make will be linked from the BGL site. The winner's name and link will be shown in lights on the BGL main page. AND, in addition to the admiration of his/her peers, the winner will walk away with an extremely rare copy of BGL's "First Super Hard-to-Find E.P." CD! So spread the word and START MAKING THAT PAGE!!!

Finally, don't let the heir of the man who conspired to explode the British Parliament speak for you all! Sign the guestbook and report on your webpages in progress!

And if you haven't yet bought the coolest disc you've never heard, you know what to do.

NEWS: October 14

Hey, everybody. Sorry about the lack of updates, but I've been in New York. Now the pressing issues. People want Kids Find 'The Boot' Buried in the Trash, and who am I to hold back the fans?

For a copy of the CD, just send a check or money order for $9.00 to:

Ben Pattison
7 Pembroke St.
Rochester, NY 14620

Please allow several weeks for your CD to arrive, cause Ben's a busy dude, if you know-wha-a'm-sain. If it's more than you expected to pay, sorry, we have to pay for shipping, and handling, and packaging, and wild parties with shmoozy record executives too. We decided not to go through professional distribution websites, because they charge a whole lot extra, and we would be forced to charge something like $14, which would be less than cool.

NEW BEN FLASH LETTER TO THE FANS!!! Check out Ben's remarks on our imminent greatness...And don't smoke, it's bad for you. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. Let us know what you think of the CD by signing the guestbook.

NEWS: October 3

It's not often that mankind takes a great leap toward perfection. Our art, our architecture, and especially our music is plagued with limits and boundaries. Only a few enormously creative and talented individuals are able to expand and redefine the boundaries of what we consider music. This is where BEN FLASH AND HIS BOYISH GOOD LOOKS come in.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am unspeakably proud to announce to the world that, Kids Find 'The Boot' Buried in the Trash, the debut album from Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks has been set for release on Friday, October 5, 2001. Problems with the artwork, the mail, and "the man" have set back this release date more times than we can count. But laughter is truly the best medicine, and it has guided this CD out of four genius musical minds, and into your hands.

Thank the Boyish Good Looks. Thank yourselves. Above all, thank laughter itself for the release of this groundbreaking CD. Music has not much farther to go.

Help the world celebrate, by signing the guestbook.

NEWS: September 21

Cheerio, happy campers.

Ok, this might be the biggest news of all time. Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks now have T-SHIRTS available!!! We're not kidding, you can really buy these shirts, and other items sporting BGL logos. Two designs are available, both of which can be seen here, on the Brand New Merchandise Page!, or by clicking the button to the left, marked, uh...

...And now a riddle: What sort of Christmas gift is full of fun, and includes three retractable chords, and an old cockney jerk? Why, it's Opus #5, THE CHRISTMAS OPUS! The hip new tune that's got all the kids snapping their fingers to the far out beat. Groovy sounds, from all around, soul brothas and sistas! Check it out...NOW, before my clothes go out of style.

Ok, so t-shirts are on the electronic shelves, the new single is up on mp3.com, and the new disc, Kids find 'The Boot' Buried in the Trash will be available in October. Wow, if this were a real band, we would be doing pretty well for ourselves.

Sign the guestbook, and man, just make us look cool.
"I'll quote you warmly and accurately."

NEWS: September 14

The CD, Kids Find 'The Boot' Buried in the Trash will literally be out as soon as possible. The attacks on Tuesday have had an effect on the release date, what with the cancellation of flights on Tuesday and the fact that the CD pressing plant is in NYC.

If the CD is not out by Fall Weekend, it will be available over the internet, through several professional distribution sites.

This is all for now; it has been a weird week to say the absolute least...

Sign the GUESTBOOK, and leave your e-mail address if you would like a heads up when the CDs are out.

Much Love,
Mike and the rest of BGL

NEWS: September 7

'Allo, kids! It being 3 am, I'll cut right to the chase:

There is a BRAND NEW BEN FLASH AND HIS BOYISH GOOD LOOKS SINGLE! And you can hear it..NOW!!! Find out WHAT it is, WHERE to find it, and WHY Ben hasn't had a Merry Christmas since '92...RIGHT HERE!

ALSO, there is a brand spankin' new Ben Flash Letter to the Fans. Will he finally reveal the art of his songcraft? Will he discuss world issues? Will he make more unexplained pope references? We'll just have to see now, won't we?

Where, oh where would we be without our fans? We would, of course, be without a GUESTBOOK!

NEWS: August 22

Hey, kids. I've been working like a dog to get the CD art into a format where it can be sent into the company. It takes a lot of time. Too much time. And it costs a lot of money. Too much money. But not to bore the world with the legal mumbo-jumbo...

In the meantime, you amazing Ben Flash fans can check out the SONGS PAGE and see the lyrics to our two new songs, as well as a brand new interpretation for "Our More Introspective Side."

Whenever there is new news, we'll let you know. Good luck to everyone headed back to school (which is most everyone who checks this site...).
Peaceout!

NEWS: August 19

"At the end of the tour, when the road disappears, if there's anymore people around, when the tour runs aground, and if you're still around, then we'll meet at the end of the tour." -TMBG

Well, there you have it. After a long summer of playing sold out shows to loyal bagel bites, Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks have finally wrapped up the Summer 2001 Tour with a full length accoustic set at a party in Pavilion, New York. The crowd was rowdy, but fairly responsive, and the final show was considered a hit. The set list looked something like this:

Opus #1
Our More Introspective Side
Ride Wit' Me (Nelly)
Ra!
Opus #5
The Reunion Song
Opus #3
The Boyish Good Looks Sell Out
Everyman's Opus
Encore: Third Planet (Modest Mouse)

In conclusion, a great big thank you to everyone who has come up to us this summer and told us that we don't suck. And thanks to everyone who has shot us a dose of love and signed the guestbook. Keep up the good props, and when the CD is available, I'll be sure to send out an email to all the adresses of people who have signed in.

Much Love,
BGL

NEWS: August 11

Hey, you wild and crazy kids! Thanks a million for signing the guestbook. To all those who are wondering, check back right here often for information about the release of the new disc.

The song "Boyish Good Looks Sell Out," written by Mike in his car and in McDonalds (of course), has just been added to the BGL catalog. This, paired with the reunion song, seem to be showing a more mature, more self deprecating side of the group.

New Ben Flash Letter!!! Sorry, folks, this one is late, 'cause I kept forgetting to add it to the site. This is an exciting letter, as it may someday be used as a song.

Always remember, machine wash cold, sign the guestbook, clean your plate, be in bed by ten, and sign the guestbook. Thank you.

NEWS: August 4

Hey, hey, Ben Flasharinoes!

Big news from the Ben Flash camp this week. The band experienced a short lived break-up when Mr. Flash himself got a little self-righteous in the middle of a well publicized talent show. The all-ages crowd didn't know what to make of the mumbo-jumbo. After some insults were exchanged, though, the band reformed to write and perform their reunion song. No one in the group ever thought to name the song, though it could be called "My Friends." This mature foray marks the first new song for the group since the completion of the Kids Find album.

Also, happy birthday to Mike, the world's newest 20 yr old.

NEWS: July 22

Well Helloooooo, Mr. Fancy Pants
Aloha, Ben Flash Fans! Sorry to make you all wait so long for the new update, but the BGL brood has been hard at work, not just on music, but on taming the hearts and minds of impressionable youngsters determined to enjoy the cold bitter sounds of Limp Bizkit, Korn, and Linkin Park. That's just a lot of unnecessary K's, if you ask me.

The album, "Kids Find 'The Boot' Buried in the Trash," is still on the way. We have run into some unfortunate and unexpected obstacles involving the art, and the expected release date has been moved back to Fall 2001. We thank everyone for their patience and support.

Thank you for using the BGL 2001 Warcraft. If you have any comments or concerns, please let us know.

NEWS: June 22

Check out the NEW LETTER FROM BEN FLASH!
This one basically sums up what we've been up to for the past couple of months...Gasp! An honest Ben Flash Letter?!?

HOLY CRAP AM I EVER BORED!!! Thank Goodness the Summer Tour is going to be kicking off in about a week. We don't like to announce dates ahead of time, but this is what we can tell you now:

-All shows will be free and unplugged, but set lists will be very short.
-For most of our live dates, we plan to headline shows which will feature children's groups as well as folk music acts, and chick singers.
-We will be playing indoor and outdoor venues to crowds of about 200.
-Sadly, Mark will not be along for the tour. He will be taking a leave of absense from the group in order to study music for the summer.
-Most likely, the band will be hitting locations south of Attica Prison, west of Warsaw NY, east of Wales Center, and along Rt. 20A. In other words, we're coming to a stage near you!

Sign THE GUESTBOOK. You'll be glad that you did. Punk.

NEWS: June 11

"We're Boyish Good Looks and we're here to say, the completion of the album isn't too far away!"
This weekend, the Looks worked intensively on these, the final opera to be completed for the album:

-Opus #1
-Everyman's Opus
-e-opus
-Hey Leidi-Lo

All the tracks for Leidi-Lo have been completed. Opus #1 and Everyman's Opus lack only bass tracks, to be added by the end of the week.

Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks will be playing its second-ever live performance this Friday. Sorry fans, the show will be a private fundraiser for a student performance group in Rochester, and is invite only. If there are any bootleg recordings, though, we'll be sure to toss them up onto the net.

Okay, I don't mean to get everyone all excited, but there is talk of a Ben Flash music video hitting the internet someday...I'll be sure to keep you posted...

THE GUESTBOOK is in the same place it has always been, kids... And as always, thanks to everyone for all the support.

NEWS: May 24

A Big Hello to the fans, friends and neighbors. As you can see below, all the recorded songs have been mixed, and sound pretty good, if you ask me. Ask anyone else, though, and I can't guarantee what they'll tell you.

Check out the Songs Page, because a brand new "RA!" Interpretation has just been added, as have the lyrics to the Christmas Opus.

I will be away in Ohio for the next few days, but while I'm gone, PLEASE SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!!! I like it when people do that. Have a great weekend, fans!

NEWS: May 19

Wow, what a weekend for Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks! We had our secretive get-together at BGL headquarters, and we made a whole lot of progress. At this point, the following tracks have been recorded in entirety:

-Opus #3 (the camper opus)*
-Opus #5 (the christmas opus)*
-The Social Experiment*
-Ra!*
-Opus #2 (the dopest opus)*
-Sean McNall Puts in His Two Cents*
-Ben's Message*
-Our More Introspective Side*
-Opus #4 (the missing opus)*
A * denotes a recording which has been mixed, and now exists digitally on a CD.

The group is also succeeding style-wise. Our friend Lizzie, who, surprisingly, doesn't have a stupid Boyish Good Looks nickname/title (yet...), hooked us up with some really cool-looking BGL T-shirts. I'm wearing mine right now, in fact. We can't thank Lizzie enough for these very thoughtful gifts. And this way, kids, if we come to your town, and bus' you up, you'll know it was us ;-)

NEWS: May 12

Greetings on this fabulous Pre-Mother's Day. The Boyish Good Looks have arranged a date when the entire group will be united, and some real progress will be made on the long-awaited album. The group will be meeting in a secret hidden location, on a mysterious date, and at a mysterious secret time. Well, okay, The time will be about 2 in the afternoon, but everything else will be confidential. I feel the secretiveness makes the entire process more exciting and infuriating for our fans, whom I like to call the "Bagel Blanks" (as our submissions for the fan name contest were almost non-existant). That is by no means an official fan name, by the way, just something I made up. Personally, I'm impressed. But at any rate, a lot of progress will be made in the coming weeks, and, by my watch, you can expect a product by the beginning of July.

In other exciting news (for me at least), I bought a bass guitar yesterday, and it will certainly be making an appearance on my solo effort, which will also probably be together by the beginning of July. Okay, enough out of me; I have two Monday finals to study for. Wish me luck - Mike

NEWS: May 1

Hey, everybody. I've been really busy with all my classes and stuff, so there haven't been any updates lately, but there are a few bits of news.

First off, our friends in the band Poets by Day have just released a new album, called, "...today" (sorry about the previous misinformation -mike). I haven't heard it myself, but word on the street is that it is more carefully crafted than the first effort, "Interrupted by Phone Calls." Also, the cover is really cool looking. I'm sure you'll be able to pick up your copy in the same place you found the first disc.

Also, I would like to announce that I (Mike) am going to be working on an album of my own in the month and a half between school and my camp counselor gig. The plan is to use every cool sound I can figure out how to produce, regardless of how much sense it makes. Viva Rock and Roll! Hopefully, it will be completed around the same time as the BGL album, in early summer, and I'll soon be able to show it off to my friends and neighbors. Some tentative titles of songs include, "Lesser Silence," and "Vacation."

And finally, it's the end of the month, and you know what that means! It's another Open Letter from Ben Flash himself! Please show your excitement respectfully, with no screaming or drooling.

NEWS: April 20

Good news! The Compilation of Top 5 Lists has been assembled. Linked from the "top 5 lists" button on the left, this is a comprehensive collection of every top 5 list to have been submitted to the BGL guestbook to date. Highlights include, well just about everything on there. As always, though, more top 5 lists will be appreciated, as well as more suggestions for fan names, though excitement over that contest seems to be running low. If you do make a submission, however, be sure to check Page 9 of the Archives to make sure it hasn't already been submitted.

NEWS: April 12

All right, kids. I'm not exactly sure what it's going to take to kick this contest into action, but on this, the sixteenth day since it was proposed(See Ben's Letter), it's getting a little, uh, quiet around here.

Whoosh. Okay, there went my dignity.

Here's the deal. Ben Flash and his Boyish Good Looks are willing to send a Blue Mountain Electronic Greeting Card to anyone willing to sign the guestbook, including name, e-mail address, and a legitimate contest suggestion before midnight, MONDAY, APRIL 23. One e-card per ORIGINAL legit suggestion, so send as many as you think of - Make us crank those cards out!

NEWS: April 3

In a rare appearance of Mark's head from the ground, he has added a slew of new sites to the band's links page (see the button). At last you can all get into the head of the silent good look...It's gooey in there... Also, don't forget about the NON-HIDDEN contest that is now running. For more info, see Ben's latest letter to the fans. Just click here!
"Don't just look...listen as well."

NEWS: March 28

Where can you find all the latest news, sports and weather (minus the sports and weather) about your favorite nearly existent band? How can you find out all about the brand new UNHIDDEN CONTEST??? Check out Ben Flash's brand new letter to the fans for the month of March by going to the "open letters" button over there, or just by clicking here.

NEWS: March 21

Everyone take notice of the nifty little logo under the "links" button. It was designed by Aaron himself, and if the group were ever to have stickers available, they would most likely be based on this picture. As far as the sticker thing goes, we are still considering our options, and basically figuring out how on Earth we could pull it off. Get it? Pull off! Stickers! (Insert rim shot noise).
Be well, America.

NEWS: March 19

Former contest winner Amanda Haas' INTERACTIVE SHOCKWAVE MOVIE can now be seen on Jessica's Camp Website. You can get there by clicking on the "links" button over there on the left. It's impressive stuff; I recommend you check it out, pronto.

In less exciting news, I'm currently in the process of organizing the files on the site, so if you try to do something and it doesn't work, just give it a little time. Thanks. Oh, and as always, please sign the guestbook.

NEWS: March 15

Yeah, so I decided the page was in dire need of a face lift. It's kind of drastic, I realize, but that's what happens when the phenomenon of a phony music project turns into something which resembles the shadow of a real band.

In other important news, the first finished recording from the band, Opus #2 (The Dopest Opus), was completed very early in the morning of March 11. Featuring Tera, a.k.a. M.C...something..., the song made its debut on 89.3 WGSU in Geneseo Just after Midnight, only 22 hours after its last tracks were laid down.
