FORT MACFIE, ED -- The Fort Macfie Gangbang organization is getting set to host the 2007 SHL Draft. The always exciting, always surprising draft is set to take place Tuesday September 18th at the OK Corral Centre in downtown Fort Macfie. As previous years have shown the most exciting part of the draft is about a half hour before it actually begins when the draft order is announced. The SHL is an unorthodox league when it comes to their draft order. Instead of doing the draft order in reverse of the preceding years regular season standings or basing it on a lottery with the chances based on the previous years standings they go with a completely randomized draft order.
Last season the Scott City Grrrowl ended up with the first overall pick in the draft from the randomized order and ended up selecting Joe Thornton first overall. It is more than likely this season that whoever ends up with the first overall pick will pick 20 year old sensation Sidney Crosby. Most teams are content with admitting they would pick Crosby first overall if they get the selection. Others are being more secretive about their 2007-2008 Roster wish lists. Mark Peterson General Manager of the Marktown Petes stated in all likelihood they will select Ryan Smyth again in the first round for the second straight year if he is still available. After hearing the interview where Peterson stated this, Dion Berg GM of the Dionland Twisters quickly commented �Peetee shouldn�t even be allowed in the league again if he selects Smyth first round again. His knowledge of hockey and his formula for success in the SHL is an embarrassment to the entire league.�
The draft is sure to bring an exciting start to the 07-08 season. The league looks forward to the hospitality the city of Fort Macfie is promising to deliver during draft week.
