This probably one of the most debatable topics on this site: The love connection between Mariam and Max. Some people think they should be together, some people don't. I personally think that the two would make a cute couple! ^_^ They never officially date in the series, but there are so many situations in which you can tell they share a liking towards each other. Here is some evidence backing my case!
I don't remember clearly what happened the first time they met (because the first few episodes are the ones I always seemed to have missed.) but when Mariam challenges Max to a bey battle for a second time, she flirted with him a little and called him a cutie, lol.
There was solid proof in the episode "Friends and Enemies." Max is battling Dennis and his bit beast, Tyranno. Dennis makes a run for it before using its full power. Max gives chase, unaware that Mariam is following him. Her original intention was to capture Draciel, but as you'll soon read, that is not what happened after all. When Max engages in another battle with Dennis. Mariam decided when Tyranno weakens Draciel, she'll capture it. But she soon discovers that a machine was giving Tyranno more power, making the battle unfair. Mariam launches Sharkrash at the machine and destroys it. But this causes the entire building to fall apart. The rest of Bladebreakers are safely out of the building, but Max is still inside. Mariam and Max work together to try and find a way out of the building. Mariam sees a wound on Max's arm and takes off her headband (she NEVER takes her headband off for ANYTHING!) and wraps it around his arm to cover the wound. There are many tense conversations and moments in this episode. If you saw it, you should know what I mean, lol.
In the following episode, the Saint Shields challenge the Bladebreakers. Both teams meet up in an abandoned amusement park. Tyson gets all riled up and wants to challenge Mariam, but she clearly states that she wants to bey battle Max. During the intense match, Max makes Mariam realize the bond between his teammates and their bit beasts. After making a bond with Sharkrash, Mariam discovers why the Bladebreakers don't want their bit beasts taken away from them. She loses to Max, but she says that the Bladebreakers are capable of being their bit beasts' guardians and her team didn't need to seal them. Unfortunately, I don't think the others (especially Ozuma) were convinced of that yet.
If this isn't proof that their COULD be a relationship between Mariam and Max, I really don't know what is. This is just my opinion, so don't send me hate mail about it! If you have any more proof that these two could make a cute couple, go ahead and send it to me.
