This is the Hotel Diue  BEAUTIFUL Flemish burgundian architecture. It was established in 1443 and used as a hospital for the poor up until 1971.There are 50 weathervenes and they are all gold plated iron. It was designed by the chancelor of the duke Nicolas Rolin who wanted the house for the poor to be finer than the dukes palace.  This hospital earns all its money by having a giant wine auction every year and has a giant wine celler in its basement.
Hotel Dieu a hospital for over 500 years

Detail of an angel in one of the gables above a door
more turrets and weathervanes
Gargoyle
While we were in the town of Beaune we found a shop that offered winetasting.   Jim did some tasting as I had a cold and couldnt smell. We ended up buying several bottles to be shipped home. Touring with a group is very limiting time wise and makes us only want to go back to explore more on our own. Driving by wonderful photo shots and not having the time to stop makes me nuts! The more we travel, the longer our list of places to go gets.
sunflowers
It was a nice surprise to drive by this winery because we bought some of their wine
parachutist and sunflower fields
These sunflowers were looking away.
Back on the river. A bridge in Trevoux.
Some floating art
We saw several parachute landings.
Next day, Macon, Trevoux
