Day 2 Princesse de Provence
Tournus
Morning excursion
We woke up in Tournus. This picture is for MOMO. She loves sweet potato vines and urns. These were all along the wall above the dock.
Church of Saint Philbert
Church door
Wouldn't you know, this shop was closed.  Moxie would have loved to turn those beautiful pillows into dog toys.
One of two Romanesque buildings in Burgandy
This shop is across from the church inside the fortress towers.
We seem to find kitties all over the world
Standing in front of the church looking to the right.
We climbed the tower and found this window looking down on the inside of the church. See the people in the bottom right?
The steps in the tower and the ghost of Jims arm
The courtyard with well
I loved these stained glass windows. I am kicking myself for not taking pictures of them all. Some were in shades of greens and golds like the colors of grapes.
Beautiful yellow lab. Notice how he positioned himself to make such a nice photo? Just like a lab.
This cat was crazy. It was trying to catch a butterfly that was flitting around the herbs in the window box. This is on the second floor.
The next place we visited was Cormatin Castle which was built in the Renaissance period
This was our tour guide. The best one we had the whole trip. She knew her stuff.
This staircase was the first one in france to be built not using the spiral method. It reminded me of the movie the horseman on the roof.
A small sample of how the interier was painted. They used crushed lapis for the blue and lots of powdered gold.
Reflection of the garden in the window.
the kitchen
As you casn see I am always the first one off the bus and the last one back on
The formal gardens.
Vegetable gardens, I wished I had more time. I was running as it was and once again, the last one back on the bus. This is a gourd vine on a trellis shaped like a tree.
How do you say NO in French?
Anita this pic is for you
