high season and weekends and rooms are
heavily discounted.

Some of the better hotels that you will
find in Brazil are among the Accor Group. This French
company operates a number of brands
such as the Sofitel luxury hotels, the excellent Parthenon apart-hotels, and the
Mercure and Ibis hotels. The last two are fairly new
and most hotels are only a few years old.
The Mercure offers more comfortable
accommodations; the Ibis is the Motel 6
version, clean and reliable but no-frills.
A more high-end chain with numerous
new properties is the Meliá (www.solmelia.
com). The Blue Tree is also represented in many Brazilian
cities. The older properties in the chain are
not the best but the modern ones are excelent.
Besides accommodation for all tastes, there are
options for all pockets.
More and more present in São Paulo, the hostels are
cheaper accommodation options, and they are generally well located.
Furthermore, they offer the integration with other tourists
and travellers, in the vast
majority young people, who come to São Paulo to
study, to attend some trade fair, event, and also to enjoy
the city's cultural options and the famous night life.
