| *Chapter 13* Monday was very hectic, filled with final preparations, and goodbyes. Everyone at OVW was very supportive and kind, while Shannon kind of stayed in the background. After I was done at OVW, Shannon and I got in a taxi headed for the airport. When we got there it was so hard to walk away from him, even while knowing I'd see him soon. And not even realizing how big this was that I could officially say I was now a WWE Diva. But in the midst of all the sadness, Shannon could always find joy. "Don't worry, we'll be together soon." He said. "It's just a matter of time. So go off and enjoy your life as an employee of the WWE. And before you know it, I'll be right there with you." We kissed, and then said our final goodbye. I boarded the plane to Cincinnati, OH where Raw was going to be later that night. ************************************************************************************** I arrived at the arena at 2:00, right on time for my meeting with Vince. It was really difficult trying to figure out how to get backstage, and I almost got stopped by security. I hadn't been given a backstage pass. He wouldn't let me in because he didn't recognize me, and I wasn't on the list. I was about to go into a genuine freak-out, but just then Shane walked by and saved me. He told the security I was good to go, and the guy apologized and explained he was just following orders. So I walked backstage with Shane. He told me Vince was running late, so all was OK. We were walking down the hall to Vince's office, and it was such a surreal experience. There were wrestlers everywhere! The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Christian, Al Snow, Kane, Triple H, Ric Flair, RVD, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, everyone was there. It was insane to just be walking past all of these people! Shane and I continued down the hall until we reached a door that said `Vince McMahon'. He said to wait outside, and Vince would be out soon. He opened the door a little and told Vince I was here. Shane then said he had to go do some work, congratulated me again for being here, and then left me to wait. It was so awesome to see all of the wrestlers conversing backstage. They were discussing everything from wardrobe for the night, to setting the match with their opponent. And at that moment I realized I would be caught up in all of that in just one short week. I was completely absorbed into everything, when I saw Trish Stratus walking towards me - at least I thought it was towards me. Then she waved, and I was so excited she was coming to talk to me. "Hey Jessica! It's nice to see you again! What are you here for this time?" "I officially work here now..." "Oh! Awesome! Congratulations!" "Thanks! I'm supposed to have a meeting with Vince, and I'm debuting next week." "Cool, maybe we'll feud!" "Yeah, that would be awesome! To tell you the truth, you're kind of my inspiration, the reason I began in wrestling. So I definitely hope we can feud someday! That would be so cool!" "Awww! That's so sweet! How are you debuting then?" "Well I'm starting as Jeff Hardy's valet... and I'm not sure where they're going from there!" "Lucky girl! You're gonna love working with Jeff, he's amazing!" "Oh I'm sure!" Then we were interrupted by a woman who was unfamiliar to me. She said Vince was ready to see me. "We always seem to get interrupted!" Trish said. "So, why don't you stop by my room after you're done here?" "OK, I will! Thanks Trish!" "Yup, talk to ya later." I walked into Vince's office and said hello. We shook hands and he told me to have a seat. He greeted me with the normal `How are you doing' type of stuff, then we got down to business. "Now, the main purpose of this meeting is to establish character, introduce storyline ideas, and let you and Jeff get aquainted since you will be working together a lot. We'd like to start with your debut next week. Now, not many people will know how you are, so you'll probably get a kind of confused reaction. But don't let that bother you. It's completely normal." "OK." I was in awe of how well he said everything, and just basically in awe of him. "We're going to have you and Jeff cut a promo backstage. But it's not written yet, so I can't really tell you much more than that. I think Stephanie just wants you to go out there with Jeff, just cheer him on. Be a valet. Then we'll start developing a storyline from there. Steph will go over every detail with you next week. How does that sound?" "It sounds fantastic!" I was so excited to be here! "Great! Then let me get a few things together and we'll go down to Jeff's locker room." He grabbed some papers, some coffee, and his briefcase, and then we headed down to Jeff Hardy's locker room. |
