Effect:
Technique and Form: ReTe
Level: 5
Range: Personal
Duration: Momentary
Target: Part

When the shield is hit by any object (especially a weapon in combat) the relief tries to catch it using its limbs (the arms of the human figure, the snakes on the Medusa's head, the tongue of the face, etc.).

If the person carrying the shield is not hit by his opponent (the opponent's Attack total does not exceed the wearer's Defense total) the shield will try to catch the weapon. The bearer of the shield should make a Dexterity roll for it (the shield's Dexterity is -2) versus an Ease Factor equal to the Dexterity plus the Strength of the opponent (the opponent does not make a roll). If the shield succeds in the roll then it catches the weapon and snatches it from the opponent.

The opponent should decide how much attention they will pay to the shield (trying to avoid losing their weapon) and how much to the combat. The opponent should decide on a positive score that will be added to their total of Dexterity plus Strength and be substracted from their combat totals (Initiative, Attack, Defense), not including Damage or Soak. Thus if the opponent tries to avoid the shield's attempts to snatch their weapon they perform less well in combat.

If the opponent successfully strikes the person carrying the shield (the Attack total is greater than the Defense total), then the shield has not been hit and the relief cannot try to snatch the opponent's weapon.
