Burning Arrows

By Gabriel Pallarés Ramón

Item Type: Charged
Physical Form: An arrow of which the feathers are a different color from those of the other arrows used by an archer. This is in order to differentiate it from the other arrows in the archer's quiver; however, the enchanted item is actually the arrowhead, rather than the arrow's shaft or feathers.

Effect:
Technique and Form: CrIg
Level: 5
Range: Personal
Duration: Mom.
Target: Ind.

When the arrow is loosed the arrowhead turns to red hot, causing +10 to damage if the arrow penetrates the armor and lighting a fire if hits a flammable object.

Due to the ease with which this charged item may be created, a lot of magi use it to improve the effectiveness of their covenant's bowmen. Every magus creates a different version using their best arts; for example, CrAq may be used to make an arrowhead that generates a corrosive liquid or a poison when the arrow hits, while a PeIg effect may increase damage by causing frostbite.

Level Calculation: Base 5
Effect Frequency: n/a
Trigger: When the arrow is loosed
Effect Modifications:

Number of Charges: Normally each arrow is only given one charge
Bonus to Aging Rolls: n/a
Total Modified Level of Effect: 5
Other Details: While it is theoretically possible to give an arrow more than one charge, this is normally avoided as arrowheads are often lost after they have been loosed.
