Physical Form: A calyx with a hollow in the handle with two crystal windows. The hollow is filled with blood. The blood in question is intended to be an Arcane Connection with the person to be affected by the item (henceforth the target), and if fixed, will make the link to the target permanent.

The item detects if the target is going to cast spontaneous, formulaic or ritual magic (even if the ritual is the Parma Magica or Vim magic). The purpose of this effect is to activate the other effects of the object. This effect should beat the Magic Resistance of the target (Parma Magica or otherwise), but if the target has their resistance down or suppressed when this item takes effect, even for a moment, then the third effect will prevent the subsequent raising of the target's Magic Resistance.

Target: Ind.
From the target's skeleton appear bone blades piercing flesh and skin. The blades remains and retract slowly until the end of the spell, at which point they disappear under the skin (leaving open wounds). If the target is performing any activity (e.g. magic) while pierced by the blades, they should made a Concentration roll 12+ to overcome the pain and complete the action in question. The damage of the blades is equivalent to a Light Wound; though they are quite spectacular and painful, the blades only pierce the muscle, leaving the vital organs unaffected.

The target falls asleep for a moment, breaking the target's concentration.

Trigger: This effect is triggered when the target tries to perform the Parma Magica ritual or when the target tries to use Vim magic. The purpose of this effect is to stop the target from shielding themself from the effects of the item.
