Description and Background:

Like its smaller cousin, the cat, the leopard of the mythic world has a reputation among common folk for being an evil creature. The difference is that in the case of the leopard it is a reputation that is probably well deserved; the leopard is indeed predisposed to viciousness. However, lacking the brute strength of its larger cousin, the lion, it is usually forced to perpetrate its malice through cunning machinations rather than outright aggression.

While this nature is normal in most leopards, it is said that there are some that have rejected the evil ways of their fellows and have turned to God, seeking to attain His forgiveness through pious service and good deeds. Such creatures are said to be found most commonly in the Levant and the Middle East.

*The leopard presented here has been adapted to ArM5 from that found in The Medieval Bestiary, Revised Edition, pp. 35-36, with some inspiration taken from Living Lore, pp. 98-100.
