Brief-Biography
Prakash ram lived at karigam in Anantnag, he was a devotee of lord Sri Ram and due to this devotion he wrote the Ramayana in Kashmiri.This Ramayana became the first Epic Poetry ever written in Kashmiri.He made it more interesting after introducing "Lav Kush" Kanda in it.
The Ramyana written by prakash ram became famous in the valley Particularly among the kashmiri pandits.It was sung by every family in the valley,he realised the depth and universality of the characters to elivate their soul.
The basic characteristics in his writing was the simplicity and purity of language.In his poetry he was not influnced or did not used the sanskrit and persian language,in order to save it for common people.
In his ramayana,Pt.Vasudevji's Bhajan's are also incuded in it.Among his writings includes the famous Musical play of love,devotion and sacrifice for god.In the Play "Ak-Nandun". Though the original writing Could not be located till date.But he became famous because of ramayana and is still recognised by it.
So far, only five ramayana's had been written but only the Ramayana written by Pt. Prakash ram earned the recognition.The rest of the four Ramayana's are not available.Many Manuscripts oh these volumes are under the possession of various Pandit families.This makes it more difficult to recollect. The speciality in Pt. Prakash ram's work is it's local back ground added to it which makes it more easier to common people to recognize with themselves.
Sh. Pt. Prakash Ram was born in 1819 at Kair Gam (Annanatnag) and he left for his eternal journey at his native place in 1885.
