Kayleb the Gnome

History

I Kayleb, Cleric of Pelor am a Gnome of the young age of 77. My life have been fairly uninteresting and wasted.

Growing Up

I grew up in a hamlet of gnomes where I had many friends, pets and played many pranks. I began proper schooling at the age of 30, like most gnomes. I had been married twice by the time I was 48 (I was quite young and impulsive). It was my third marriage however that resulted in a divorce that caused me to leave the hamlet.

Leaving Home and Slavery

I began to wonder the world. I didn't have much experience with creatures other than gnomes. I was eventually caught by a nasty group of goblins. Forced into slavery for 8 years I picked up some nasty habits of taking to myself and ignoring the world around me. I played many pranks on the goblins casting dancing lights on the rump of one or causing strange sounds to come from behind one. I usually paid dearly for my pranks, but they brought me back to the world. A good deal of my captivity I was keep underground. Only occasionally was I visited by a mole or some other critter for company. If I was outside it was usually at night.

The Sunlight

I came to greatly enjoy what little time that I was out under the sun, even if it was work. On one of these outside work days a band of paladins and clerics from the church of Pelor slew the goblins. They almost killed me, mistaking me for a small goblin. I was taken to the church for healing.

The Church of Pelor

I then worked in the church for a few years, doing errands or whatever was necessary (usually things that required someone to fit in tight spaces). A particularly attentive cleric noticed how I spent much time in front of the Pelor symbol basking in it's warm, for it was heated by the reflections of the sun. He also noticed that at times I had strength beyond my natural ability and that if I had an injury that it wouldn't be there the next work day. I was soon formally recognized as a Cleric of Pelor.

Pelor Is My Friend

I however was not the typical cleric. I tended to see Pelor as more of a close friend or mentor rather than a deity and that the power that he loans me more of a whim of his than by great praying on my part. This view was kind of disturbing, thus I was sent by the church in Underdark to recover the cursed evil blade off of Chade. The church knowing full well that the quest would take some time and might turn me into an adventurer.

Kayleb was a valuable member, but has since left the party on Church Orders. Tharn thinks that the church might be using its influence on him to keep him away from Tharn and his "Thor-ishness."
