Home The Map of the Western Lands
Detailed and accurate maps are considered treasure by most scholars and learned wisemen of the world.  As the tonist leadership came to power and began purging all ancient records in order to streamline the process for codifying the disseminating approved information, maps were second only to texts on history that were destroyed.  Rumours abound of maps that indicate ancient migration patterns, details of non-human kingdoms, and the presence of entire continents not currently contained on any maps approved for the faithful.  Possessing such contraband maps is tantamount to committing religious heresy, and most right-thinking people simply burn any such maps they find, believing them to be folly - the fanciful imaginings of the ancient pre-tonist storytellers.

The current tonist-approved map of the Western lands is shown below.  The accuracy of the map cannot be guaranteed; the lords of the West and the tonist leadership are too concerned with administering to the needs of the faithful and protecting their own borders to fund any expeditions to map the Middle-and-Far East or the dark South.  Secular scholars in the West, under-cover of course, are interested in obtaining any contraband maps made by non-tonist explorers from the East, and are often willing to part with substantial amounts of coin to purchase them.
