Boromir's Gallery
He travled to Rivendell to seek an answer to a reacurring dream that reads as follows:
"Seek for the Sword that was broken:
In Imladries it dwells;
There shall be counsels taken
Stronger than Morgul-Spells.
There shall be shown a token
That Doom is near at hand,
For Isildur's Bane shall waken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand."
(FOTR: Chapter: The Council of Elrond.)
When he arrived at the house of Elrond, Boromir was summoned to a secret council, along with other races, such as the Dwarves, Elves, a Wizard, other Men, and, unexpectedly, a hobbit.
At the council, Boromir finds out that the One Ring must be destroyed, and in order to do that, it must be cast back into the fires of Mount Doom.
Before Boromir learns this, however, he thinks there is a way for Gondor to use the Ring as a weapon against Mordor's army, and that's when he finds out that "Strider," the Ranger is truly Aragorn son of Arathorn: the heir of Islidur, and and heir to the throne of Gondor.
