Geography
World in Spatial Terms

As a result of activities in grade 6-8, all students should:
Understand how to use maps and other geographic representations, tools and technologies to acquire, process, and report information from a spatial perspective.
Understand how to use mental maps to organize information about people, places, and environments in a spatial context.
Understand how to analyze the spatial organization of people, places and environments on Earth’s surface.

Places and Regions

As a result of activities in grade 6-8, all students should:
Understand the physical and human characteristics of places.
Understand how cultures and experience influence people’s perceptions of places and regions.

Math/Number and Operations
As a result of activities in grades 6-8 students should:
Compute fluency and make reasonable estimates
Select appropriate methods and tools for computing with whole numbers from among mental computation, estimation, calculators, and paper and pencil according to the context and nature of the computation and use the selected method or tools.

Economics/Market & Market Prices
As a result of activities in grades 4-8 students should:
Understand when the exchange rate between two currencies changes, the relative prices of the goods and services traded among countries using those currencies change; as a result, some groups gain and others lose.
