| This was definitely one of the coolest shows I ever saw. The opening act, Atomsmasher, was a one-man noise guy on a lap top. Not very entertaining to watch this dude, but the music was insane. Computer generated grindcore. Noisy as hell right up by the stage, I moved to the back of the club for most of his set. Not something I'd rather see live again, but I'd love to hear a CD or something. There wasn't much flashy crap when Fantomas got onstage. They just went up and started playing, hardly saying a word to the crowd. They played just about every track off their first release, and it was so goddamned impressive I wanted to cry. They didn't neglect to play any of their second album, but a few more tracks off it would've been cool. They threw down a bunch of tricks that I'd always wondered if they could stick live, and although I didn't doubt their ability, I was still somewhat surprised to see it go off so smooth. Sick, sick show. |
