The Dhaka University Employment Bureau was started in 1939-40. Its object was to procure jobs for the qualified students of the University. In course of time its scope was enlarged and it developed into Guidance and Employment Bureau in 1962. The Guidance and Employment Bureau functions in collaboration with the Teacher-Student Center. In addition to helping the Director of the Center to co-ordinate student's extra-curricular activities, the Bureau's main responsibilities are:

• Orientation of new students
• Development and preservation of cumulative record of each student.
• Assessment of individual traits through psychological testing, and
• Counseling students in their personal problems.
