This movie is about a small band in the early 1960's in Erie, PA. They hit it off at a school talent show, and soon are put on the local radio. After being discovered by a large record company, they are off to stardom. The ups and downs of being in the band are both humorous and striking, presented well in this movie.
A modern spoof of the classic western, this is a very funny movie. The characters have unlikely personalities, playing off of each other constantly. Jim West and Mortimer Gordon are sent by President Grant to the west to stop an evil madman, Dr. Lovelace. Their journey is eventful and interesting, making you laugh through the suspense.
This is a hilarious, well-done 'Star Trek' and other sci-fi movie spoof. The crew of a very popular sci-fi tv show do conventions and shows, but their outward affection for each other is simply that, outward. One day, they are contacted by aliens, and their 'captain' tries to convince them to join him on the ship. Reluctantly agreeing, they go, and end up in a galactic war. Their alien worshippers believe they are the real deal, taking their show as history. In trying to save their friends and their dignity, there is a heart-warming, hilarious result.
The Indiana Jones trilogy has to be some of the greatest movies ever made. They have everything: action, suspense, romance, history, good vs. evil, culture, humor, the list goes on! In each, Indy has a goal to find something of historical value. In the first, the Ark of the Covenant, the second, the holy stones of a lost culture, and in the third, the Holy Grail. The films are full of quick-paced action as he daringly attempts to accomplish each goal. They are all set in the 1930's and 1940's, battling the Germans, the great enemy of the time. However, there is a more natural enemy in each as well; snakes in the first, bugs in the second, and rats in the third. Go into each film without a weak stomach, and with an acceptance for action!
This is a fun family movie following a number of different subplots. Each subplotline followed contributed or fell into this huge traffic jam in CA. Of course, everyone is in a hurry to get where they needed to or to do what they had to. Even so, things still get done while stuck in the largest traffic jam ever.
Set in 1963, this movie revolves around a mountain resort bad-boy dancer and a young girl visiting, falling in love for the first time. The firey and fun relationship the two share is sweet and still makes me ache for that sort of honesty. However, their differences are recognized by those around them, determined to tear them apart. I will not reveal the ending, but I will tell you that I love this movie, and the ending is the greatest part...you figure it out.
The highest Naval pilot school: Top Gun. Two young pilots recieve the opportunity to attend this school and better themselves. Only the best of the best are there, naturally allowing for superiority complexes and competition. The flying scenes are exciting and dramatic. On the ground, life is real and harsh, in love and life. Through it all, our main young pilot will learn more about himself than of flying fighter planes.
President Marshall's plane, Air Force One, is taken captive by Russian terrorists on their way to Moscow. They hold around 50 passengers hostage, including the first family and several cabinet members. They want the release of a Russian General in a US prison. The daring, risk-taking president wrestles and fights with his hijackers, trying to release his plane and passengers. While he is fighting in the air, the Vice President is fighting on the ground along with generals and other government officials. This is full of suspense, action, and violence. It is very intense, but well worth it the whole way through.
| A young playwright recieves an old pocketwatch from an old woman at the open of one of his plays. Confused, he ignores her plea of 'come back to me' for nearly 8 years. Later, while in a writer's block, he takes a trip to a small, old hotel from the early 20th century.
