PLEASE GIVE US A NICE HOME
Adopting an animal from the Humane Society of Saline County is a rather straightforward procedure. There is a one-page adoption form that must be filled out and approved. The adoption fee varies from one animal to the next, with the average being about $25. If the animal is not already spayed or neutered, you must agree to have that done within a certain amount of time. We will follow-up on the animal once you've adopted it, and reserve the right to reclaim the pet if you have not honored the conditions of the contract. At any time, if you find you cannot keep a pet you adopted from us, please return him or her to us.
The staff at the Humane Society is here to help. Feel free to ask them questions about the pets you see and what type of pet would fit into your ifestyle. Although puppies are cute, consider adopting an older dog. An adult dog  is most likely house trained and has passed the "teething" stage. Adult dogs make wounderful compainions because they are so very grateful to be adopted and have a good home.
Some Saline County vets provide reduced-fee spays and neuters when you present proof of adoption through us. Call your local vet to see if they participate in this program. Not only sterilizing your animal a term of your contract, it is the only effective means to cut down on the unwanted pet population.
Pets you adopt from us have been vaccinated, wormed and deemed healthy. You should visit your vet as soon as possible to get your pet on heartworm preventative medication, and it's a good idea to purchase a flea and tick preventative.
