About me

Basic Info

Where to begin… I’m an 18 year old girl. I live in the extremely boring country; the Netherlands   -.-; Everything’s flat in this country, it’s very tiny, and everyone thinks we live in mills wear wooden shoes, etcetera.

Obviously, that’s not true. I live in a very small village called ‘Leimuiden’ which is located in the province of ‘Zuid (South) Holland ’. It’s more than an hour away from Amsterdam . Living in such a small place means I have to do a 30 minute bike ride to the next big city, and you can’t buy everything here (except for groceries). But I couldn’t live in a city, the ‘country side’ has a sort of freedom, and I happen to like freedom. I hope to go to Japan someday, which seems like a lot more interesting to me than the boring old Netherlands >P

I graduated from ‘high school’ and now I’m gonna study TMA (Trade Management focused on Asia ) at the HES (let’s translate that with ‘ Higher Economy School ’) in Amsterdam , I’ll still be living at home though; there’s a bus connection between here and Amsterdam . With this study, you get to pick an Asian language, and I chose Japanese (of course). You also get to go to an Asian country of your choice (that will be Japan in my case) in the 3rd year of the study; half a year to study at a university there, and half a year for work placement. My ‘bestest’ friend Lelie’s also gonna study this.

Obsessions

You guessed it; I’m obsessed with Japan , and almost anything Japan-related. I even go to ninja training! Ninja (or: ninpo bujutsu) is my sport, and I like it very much. I started September 2002, together with Lelie. We already passed 2 exams; I’m now 9th kyu (you start with a rope, then you do an exam for your white belt; the 10th kyu. Now I wear a red belt). Our ninjutsu comes straight from the battlefields of ancient Japan , that’s why we don’t have any tournaments. I’m learning a lot and we even get to fight with weapons, I already learned to use the hanbo (1 meter stick) the tanto (knife) the yawarabo (foam baton-thingy) and the tesse (30 cm stick). But what I really want is to become good enough to get to use the sword; the weapon I like best.

Besides being a ‘kunoichi’, I’m kind of a ‘Shinsengumi-fan’ too (it’s all in the outfit, I tell you! @_@ In the outfit and in the ‘Aku. Soku. Zan!’) For those who don’t know; the Shinsengumi was an army of master less samurai in Kyoto at the end of the Edo era. I became ‘Shinsengumi-fan’ through ‘Rurouni Kenshin’; my all-time favorite anime! Although, ‘former Shinsengumi 3rd division captain’ Saitou Hajime isn’t really my favorite character: Shinomori Aoshi is; I even painted him on my door! ^^;;

Spare time

My jobs; I baby-sit twice a week and I’m a kitchen help in a restaurant, mainly on evenings in the weekends. Besides that I spent my free time drawing (See art here) or painting doors (Live in the Netherlands and want an anime character on your door? Contact me! Currently ‘hired’ by Lelie). I also like sitting behind the computer, reading, and watching TV. I’m very into manga and anime! So here are the anime I like to watch (Either downloaded or my own DVDs):

  • Rurouni Kenshin (My favorite series! Got DVD’s and downloaded eps, it’s not on TV -.-; )

  • Rurouni Kenshin - Tsuioku Hen (or; Trust&Betrayal. The OAV; got it on DVD ^^)

  • Inuyasha (Downloaded; why don’t they broadcast the anime I like best?)

  • Naruto (Liked it! Only saw like 2 or 3 downloaded eps, wane see more~! ;_; )

  • Tenchi Muyo (Not on TV. Just saw some downloaded episodes)

And the anime I liked best from Lelies HUGE anime-DVD collection:

  • Rurouni Kenshin – Seishou Hen (OAV; so beautiful… *wipes off teardrop* And it had Enishi in it ^_~)

  • Trigun

  • The Slayers

  • Slayers Next (Not as good as ‘Slayers’; but still fun)

  • Record of Lodoss war (The TV series; Very nice story)

  • Noir (Weird; but also pretty cool. Loved the music)

  • Fushigi Yuugi

  • Shadow Skill (Didn’t understand half of it; but the art and music were great!)

Finally; some of the anime I like(d) that we actually have on TV here:

  • Dragonball Z (Do have it on TV, but I don’t watch it much anymore)

  • Card Captor Sakura (Liked it, but I think they stopped broadcasting it. I never gave them any permission to stop! -.-; )

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! (Sometimes I catch an episode, but it’s in Dutch *shrugs*)

  • Sailormoon (Used to watch it, when it was on in the weekend)

  • Gundam Wing (Saw the series on TV once; once is enough)

Anime I still want to see:

Uhm… more Rurouni Kenshin? ^^;;;

And the manga I read:

  • Dragonball

  • Rurouni Kenshin (I download the manga from the internet)

  • Real Bout High School (I borrowed those from Lelie once, actually)

  • Uhh… we don’t have any more manga over here -.-;

Some Manga I’d wish to read someday:

  • ‘Burai’ (A Shinsengumi manga! @_@)

  • Kaze Hikaru (Another Shinsengumi manga that sounds interesting ^^;;;)

  • Naruto
