Princess Ayeka (Aeka)
Physical Age: 17
Age: 717
Hair Color: Purple
Eye Color: Red
Home Planet: Jurai
Current Whereabouts: The Masaki home
Name meaning: Delicate or frail
Personal Tree: Ryu-oh
The flower The Tear of the Imperial Family ("Ouke no Namida") or Royal Tear Drop is used to mourn a sad time in the royal family on planet Jurai. Ayeka once used it to compare to Yosho's eyes (in the OAV series). She was young then and much in love with her half-brother. The first princess of Jurai, daughter of Azusa and Misaki, had no idea that it was a flower of mourning. It was an arranged marriage, but neither had any protests about it. Jurai royals preferred to keep the family 'strong' with their blood. Heaven forbid a royal marry a human! Ayeka has another mother, who she calls an aunt. Her name is Funaho, and is the only human ruler of Jurai.
Ryu-oh, Ayeka's ship, was destoyed in battle with Ryoko in all of the three series, although it seemed to happen a different way each time. The branches from the ship also kept Tenchi alive when he was tossed into space with serious injuries. Ayeka also has two gaurdians, Azaka and Kamidake, who will protect her to the bitter end. They look like two giant logs and often frighten ordinary guests who come to the Masaki residence.
Ayeka commonly fights with Ryoko to win over Tenchi's heart. She's a little selfish, stubborn, and is a hothead, but for her duties as the princess of Jurai, she acts utterly perfect. Each member of the Jurai Royal family has a master key, hers being the tiara-like piece she wears on her head. She has a little sister named Sasami who seems to be the more levelheaded of the two.
In the OVA series, Ayeka arrives on Earth while looking for Yosho. She had been in cryogenic stasis for 700 years on her ship only to be awakened by her gaurdians to have located the Space Pirate Ryoko on Earth. But she arrives moments before Ryoko's arrest warrant expires and watches it disappear before her very shocked eyes. However, this doesn't stop Ayeka from firing a warning shot or two, and then capturing Ryoko...as well as Tenchi and his house.
In the Tenchi Universe or the TV series, Ayeka arrives on Earth when answering a distress call from Mihoshi. Again, she crash landed on Earth, but this was after a battle with the rowdy Ryoko. This time Sasami came on a seperate ship...which eventually crashed as well...
In Tenchi In Tokyo, Ayeka was chasing Washu and Ryoko, who had stolen the Jurai Lightstone. After downing Ryoko's shields (thanks to their power running out), they were pulled down to Earth by Tenchi's mother's gems. The search begins, as well an interesting and quite loony series!
