The LaGrange Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota holds an annual competition for string players. 

The contest is open to students of violin, viola, cello and string bass in grades 4 through 12.

Both males and females in the Chicago area may apply.

The contestants are expected to perform from memory. 

The winner in the senior division (grades 9 through 12) will receive a cash award of $300.00. 

An award of $200.00 will be made to the winner of the junior division (grades 4 through 8). 

There is a participation fee of $10.00.
