Area 1571 sq. km.
Core Area 308 sq. km.
Fauna Tigers, Leopards, Bison, Spotted Deer, Antelopes, Bears, Wild Dogs, Boar, Nilgai, Hyenas, and Monkeys.
Flora Many flowers and Herbs Along with trees like teak, sheesum, Niwas, Haldu, Arjun, Bhava, Ironwood, Hirda & Ficus Trees.
Birds Kingfishers, Karkoche nar, Golden Oriole, Hornbills, Paradise Flycathers, Skylarks & Neelkanth.
Rivers Khandu, Khapra, Sipna, Gadga and Dolar
What else? Semadoh A beautiful forest department rest house in the jungle on a hill at the foot of which is a Doh (pond of water). If you are lucky you can spot Tigers here!
Kolkas A musemum is set up at a beautiful location here by forest dept. The museum depicts the lifestyle of Korkus, the local tribals of this region. It also has large no. of stuffed animals.
Headquarter Paratwada(60 km from Melghat.)
Getting there Chikaldara, a popular hill-station, is connected to several major towns and cities. It is about 763 km from Mumbai and 25 km from the reserve. Nagpur (230 km) and Amravati (100 km) are closer, and State Transport buses are available from these cities to Chilkaldara. All buses going via Paratwada to Dharni and Burhanpur stop at the Tourist Centre in Semadoh. MTDC also organises excursions to the reserve.

Rest House, Kolkaz
This rest house in the reserve is a favourite with staunch wildlife enthusiasts and provides a beautiful view of the forests around. Book in advance. The facilities are not extravagant. For reservations, contact: Divisional Forest Officer, East Melghat, Dist. Amravati, Maharashtra.

Rest House, Dhakna
For reservations, contact: Divisional Forest Officer, West Melghat, Chikaldhara, Dist. Amravati, Maharashtra.

Forest Bungalow, Melghat
