UPDATE INFORMATION FOR THIS WEB SITE. I try to update this site as often as possible. Recent update information will be posted here so you can quickly see what's new. You can also subscribe to the E-Mail List for major update information.
- September 21, 2003: Robert Waits has done us all a favour by posting the US Patent Office Indexes for the period 1899 through 1940. Now you can track a patent for which you only have the date, and not the number. An incredible amount of work, scanning and loading these to the web. Thanks again for your continuing contributions, Robert!
- July 14, 2003: Links keep getting out of date or changed at the place of origin. Please e-mail me if you find links not working, or if you have new ones you think should be there.
- January 24, 2003:One of my collecting interests has been Schick Injector Razors, and Magazine Repeating Razors. A new feature outlines some history and includes a table that will help you to date your Schick razors and see what is missing from your collection. See the new Schick Injector/ Magazine Repeating Razor Identification Page.
- January 15, 2003:An interesting and very rare item, the Reel Watch Razor, was recently auctioned on EBay for $461. It reminded me that collector Renzo Jardella of England had sent me a picture of one of these and another razor for my Band Razor Page which I had not gotten around to posting. So they are available for a look now, thanks very much to Renzo.
- January 04, 2003:I found a great program for generating a pop quiz, so it made sense to see if anyone was actually reading all the material on this web site. Go to The Gillette Quiz and test your knowledge. It's for fun, but let me know if you got all the answers without using a book.
- December 27, 2002:What do the diversity of life on earth (bio-diversity) and the diversity of razors (razo-diversity) have to do with each other. Are they indicators of extinction? Read our latest editorial in "Nicks 'n Scrapes".
- September 19, 2002:Amichay Bar-Yosef of Israel is a very enthusiastic Blade collector who wants to make contacts to buy, sell and trade. He also has some interesting razors you may not have seen. You'll find him in Collector's Corner with some pictures of his collection.
- May 01, 2002:Links, Links, Links. They get out of date, change their name and URL, or just cease to exist. I have done a fairly extensive links overhaul, but let me know if you see things that don't work, or new links that should be added. e-mail me and let me know.
- January 22, 2002:Happy New Year! Some dead links have recently been updated. Keep checking back, and thanks for your continued interest and many comments and questions.
- August 24, 2001: Just to let you know that Knife World Publications has "The Razor Anthology". Go to Knife World to check it out, or preview this book on our Books and Reference Page.
Also, some new and updated web sites on our Links Page. Thanks to sharp eyed visitor Neal Teeman for a bunch of these!
- August 06, 2001: I haven't had much time for updates this summer, but I am still working (slowly) on Wilkinson and Schick Injector features. Why not contribute something yourself, pictures of your specialty items, or a note on interesting new finds or sources?
- July 15, 2001: I get a lot of questions from folks having trouble finding their favorite shaving supplies, especially if they like to use a venerable Gillette double edge, or a Schick Injector. Some new links have been added to Links Page #2 for places that stock these familiar items. If you find other sources, or an interesting new link, please e-mail me.
- July 02, 2001:We missed this! The American Safety Razor Company celebrated its 125th Anniversary on June 01, 2000. The descendents of the Kampfe Brothers "Star" and the parents of the ubiquitous GEM and Ever-Ready razors from the turn of the century to the 1950's, ASR still makes a wide range of razors and blades, mostly house brands. You can see an overview of ASR Company history, or go to the Press Release. Too bad it was such a quiet party!
- June 18, 2001:Mauro Lorenzi of Italy, a top collector has collaborated with software experts to produce Collectorsencyclopedia.com. This online software program will allow you to collect, archive and manage descriptions and images of your collection, and to view and compare other collections. You can also make connections to trade. Sounds like a great new resource for razor collectors.
- May 03, 2001: The picture page of Ladies Razors has been fixed (but don't ask what it was). If you are still having problems, please e-mail me and let me know.
- May 02, 2001: Peter de Weijer's "Electric Shaver Museum" is one of the best researched, designed and produced sites on the net. And now, he has a great new exhibition of ELECTRIC SAFETY RAZORS (and a few windups and other mechanicals). Take a look, its top quality.
- April 15, 2001: Got a Question? Need an answer? Check our FAQ Pages. All the most Frequently Asked Questions from the last 2 years You can also add your own questions.

- April 07, 2001: The year 2001 is the Centennial of the founding of the Gillette Company. Robert K. Waits, author of "The Safety Razor Reference Guide" has prepared a Gillette Centennial Page with a bit of early company history. See the original razor and patent.

STATISTICS
(yes, I know what the survey says, but I'm a scientist by training!!!)It seems every time I go into an antique shop the owner tells me that "another razor collector was just here the other day and bought everything I had (and I had some great stuff....but no, I can't remember any details)". So, who are all these razor collectors and where do they come from? Our visitors (not just hits) now number over 40,000. And those many visitors come from over 80 countries representing all continents. Scroll down to see the list(it's not up to date, but it gives you a good idea). Click on the little Globe symbol on the lower left corner of the home page any time you visit to see what's been going on. Or click HERE now to see the current stats at Extreme Tracking. Thank you all for helping to make this page a success!
