In ancient Scotland, a Quaich Cup was a large drinking vessel kept specially to share with honoured visitors. Today, our Quaich Welcome Cup is essentially a gift bag of resources (coupons/discount vouchers, pamphlets, business cards, contact lists, and small gifts or samples from local businesses and groups) to be given to newcomers in the Toronto/GTA pagan community, helping them fit in and find their way around. This is similar to the Welcome Wagon concept. There is no cost to the recipient, as it is a promotional vehicle for Crossroads Sanctuary and its sponsors.
Our Quaich program will be administered by volunteer ambassadors from the local community. These people will drop off the gift bags, and may also escort newcomers to meet ‘n greet events--if desired—to help them break the ice in their new community. Each gift bag will include lists of contacts, regular meet ‘n greets, and special events in town and nearby, all assembled and kept current by the Crossroads staff.
Other Quaich Cup initiatives for later consideration will be for newlyweds, new parents, and the seriously ill, and other life events. We will also be linking with community centres in other cities to provide Quaich programs in the future!
