Sacred Crossroads & Accountability

Sacred Crossroads Pagan Community Resources, its Founders and Community Advisors feel that accountability is critically important in order to keep the confidence and respect of the community. We do not expect volunteers to be out of pocket for expenses when helping to launch an event or project. All profits (after expenses have been paid out ) will go directly into the rental and upkeep of the community centre.

Fees & Honorariums
We have no funds or immediate plans for hiring paid staff at the community centre. All Advisors and other staff are volunteers who care deeply about the pagan community and wish to provide a place for people to come together. However, anyone (including Founders, Advisors and other members) who facilitates an event or workshop for Sacred Crossroads will be entitled to a standardized fee or percentage of the net take (this may include entrance fees to attractions, if applicable). Some may choose to reinvest this honorarium in the centre, but it is not expected. This amount has not yet been determined because we do not have real numbers for calculating our expenses for the centre. The only exception to the standard fee will be when bringing in a presenter from a distance; costs would be worked out on a case-by-case basis in such situations.

The Platypus That Roars
Sacred Crossroads is NOT registered as a not-for-profit organization at this point in time, and the organizers have no wish to be so. Why? Not-for-profit/charities are beholden to the government's whims to keep their status. We choose to be political on our own terms; we choose to support the issues we care about; we choose to help the community in ways WE feel is important. We reserve the right to make a fuss! The government doesn't like that, so we will play in our own yard where they can't dictate the rules of the game.

All proceeds from fundraising are guaranteed to go directly toward the establishment of Toronto's pagan community centre. The Founders do not draw any salary or percentages of any type from the funds raised for the centre. Founders must earn fees and honorariums as stated above. This is a matter of honour for us. Receipts are kept for all expenses related to fundraising projects.

We wish to be clear on this matter so that no one feels we have been oblique about it. Information regarding the balance sheets for individual projects will be available upon request only, and will not be publicly posted or be public domain.
