| Although it is generally not thought of as such, The Observatory has many traits that could justify it being classed as a Faction, but it is so small in comparison that this seems an inappropriate term. The Observatory is a small fortified laboratory in the Plains of Armaak, and is one of those extremely rare organisations in which both Humans and Nephilim claim membership as equals. Originally set up by a small team of former latinus scholari and a Nephilim named Gygax, the purpose of The Observatory was to study and research the Initium Occasus and its effects, as well as the Nephilim that it births almost on a daily basis. Since its inception about twenty years ago, more have sought membership, and it currently stands at playing host to some thirty or forty Humans and Nephilim, of a roughly equal split, all of whom seek to understand the Initium Occasus. One of the Nephilim, a jelly-like empath called Regina Tol, is said to possess the ability to peer so deeply into the thoughts and secrets of those she chooses that it is absolutely impossible for anyone to infiltrate The Observatory, or even for anyone to enter with any intentions detrimental to the team or their work. The main ethos of The Observatory is to study and document the nature and activity of the Initium Occasus and the Nephilim, although it operates a strict policy to not interfere with any Nephilim who does |

| not first approach The Observatory, and certainly to never under any circumstances harm or hold any Nephilim (or Human) against their will for the sake of their work. The Observatory itself is a dull grey dome-shaped castle, guarded by a powerful winged Nephilim named Kados. While hardly impregnable should it be stormed by an army, The Observatory is nonetheless extremely adequate in withstanding most who would seek to harm any of the work or members there. As for Gygax, he was the first known Nephilim to ever attempt to re-enter the Initium Occasus, as part of an early study by The Observatory; he was destroyed by disintegration upon immediate contact with the vast tower of Vita. |
