SYLVIA SIDDELL ONZM

Born Auckland 1941

Sylvia Siddell has exhibited regularly throughout New Zealand since 1975. She has also exhibited in Australia and Spain. Her work is now in many public and private collections in New Zealand, Australia, USA, England, Indonesia and Germany.
Taking inspiration from her immediate environment her work depicts domestic scenes infused with wit and imagination, reflecting the joys, sorrows, struggles and frustrations of daily existence.
In 1983 she was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council Grant to study print making and further developed her style using etching, lithography and hand painted screen printing techniques.
In 1994 the Auckland City Art Gallery displayed a survey of her work from 1983 -1994 titled Slaughter of the Innocents.

In the Queen's Birthday and Golden Jubilee Honours 2002 Sylvia Siddell was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in recognition of services to painting.

While still producing detailed drawings her more recent exhibitions have featured paintings in oils
