Smashfest 10/8/05

Angelo's Birthday

People there: Scott, Richard, Lilian, Lilian's brother

Yeah that's right Ang, we played Smash and had fun times on your birthday. Remember when I was like "Hey Ang, I'll come home for your birthday so we can have fun times and watch Advent Children." But you were like "No Scott, I must spend the entire day with my beloved girlfriend who matters more than you and Adam, my best friends." So I was like "Okay I'm sorry Ang, I guess I won't come home." Yeah so me and Richard went to Lil's house and we played Smash. And guess what else we did Ang, ate dumplings, that's right, owned.

So here's how things went. When we go to Lil's house, Smash was already on. I was like, that's how it's supposed to be, not like John and David's house where they know I'm coming but when I get there Smash isn't on and I have to be like "Hey, why isn't Smash on?" Yeah, that's when we played a ton of Smash, so much Smash it didn't make sense. Like everyone played to that point where you want to keep playing but you've played so much that it's hard to keep trying. Except Lil, she really wanted to keep playing and wasn't tired of playing at all.

So... during all the mass amounts of time of Smash playing, we did some free for alls. Me and Richard usually lost in the FFAs, because FFAs make sense like that.

But what really matters is one on ones, which there were many of, and we were playing on 3 stock, so there were a lot. That's why I'm not going to list all the matches for this Smashfest like I usually would, I'll just say matchups I remember. Lil's brother, although he is good, lost most of the time. I don't remember the matchups he won, but Dr. Mario is his best character. And I beat his Dr. Mario with Jigglypuff, Richard won with I think both Samus and Game and Watch, and Lil beat him with Roy, after saying that he used to beat her all the time before Connecticon.

Early on, Lil lost to my Jigglypuff and Richard's Samus and Game and Watch, and she became determined to beat those 3 characters. But we switched up our characters and she was able to beat Richard's D.K. and Ice Climbers as Roy. Lil also beat my Ganondorf, beat my Peach once and lost to my Peach once, and beat my Falco every time, which was about 3 matches. She was unable to defeat my Dr. Mario (I think...) and Jigglypuff. Then she randomly switched to Pikachu to try to beat my Jigglypuff, and did much better against me than with Roy. Roy is pretty easy for Jigglypuff to edge guard against, and Pikachu isn't. And Pikachu also has a very powerful up smash that can kill Jigglypuff at a low percent, so Lil used those two big advantages that Roy doesn't have and almost beat my Jigglypuff. She really wanted to keep playing my Jigglypuff, which surprised me, because well, most likely any of you reading this right now really hate when I play as Jigglypuff and think I'm cheap with her. Lil kept playing against my Jigglypuff though, but was never able to win as Pikachu or Roy. She likes playing as Pikachu now though because of that, which is good because it's always good to be able to play well as more than one character. Anyway, Lil also played as Roy against Richard's Game and Watch and Samus a bunch of times, because she was determined to beat them. She kept losing, until later in the night when Richard was becoming tired and less willing to play (excuses). At this point, Lil beat both Richard's Game and Watch and Samus as Roy, once each. Richard had a suicide in the Game and Watch vs Roy match though, but oh well, Lil was happy.

So then Lil forced me and Richard to play, Jigglypuff vs Samus, for her own amusement. Richard was still in his slacking/not feeling like playing state, and I won.

It's interesting to see how people from different areas differ in play style. Lil and her brother seemed to rely on rolling and smashes the most, not quite the same that me and Richard play. They basically do a lot of dodging and then smash at the right time, which they are good at. Like, playing defensively and going for the big attacks, instead of all out relentless attacking or something like that. Of course that's not all they do, but they are definitely good with that style.

So here's the picture to prove this happened, if you don't know, it's Richard, Lilian, Scott (left to right):

/end because uh, I don't know what else to say.

Oh yeah, Lil owns you in the face.
