He is out of our highest butterfat doe, who is the same breeding as our buck Perchik. We will be breeding him to our permanant grand champion, Kahlua and our newest GCH, Peppermint. Flash won't be used much for another generation in our herd, but we had not sold him the day his sire passed on, since we had already been discussing using him, as he is such a good quality buck, we made the decision to keep him to carry on his sire's bloodline in our herd. Flash was shown for the first time as a two year old. We took him to the Mega Bucks show in Central Point. Unfortunately he was a single entry in his age group, but he won the reserve grand in one ring. We are VERY pleased with Flash and all of his kids! We have freshened two of his daughters so far and he has done some major improvements on the udders. I am VERY happy we kept this buck in our herd! We have another daughter out of a different dam that will freshen in 2010, so we have a possiblity of him earning his +B by fall of 2010. His first daughter easily earned her *M and the second one is milking over a gallon a day as a first fresher too, so we hope to have that second *M daughter by fall of 2009. As a 3 year old he won another reserve and one grand. As a four year old her won another reserve. As a 5 year old he won his second grand! We'll see what he does as a six year old! Flash will be available for stud service for $40 this year. |
