Klinger was a brown and white "paint" colored buck. He had a very smooth topline and is from a line that really "glues" the udders on. I have seen terrific improvement in his daughters, especially in the foreudders. He has daughters that have junior grands, plus in 2003 his daughter Peppermint won a senior grand and her second grand in 2004.
We took him to the Mega Bucks show 2002 and he placed 3rd, 4th and 4th in 3 classes of 7. He broke his rear leg as a yearling, so we don't know how much that hurts him in the show ring, but we'll keep trying him! He was 2nd out of two (under Kleid) in 2003. His son, Perchik, won 2 reserve grands in 2003 though!
Unfortunately we lost Klinger on 4/02/04. He will be greatly missed as a breeder, but also he was a big sweetheart. We could not have built our herd without Klinger! He has thrown gentle temperments, straight hiplines, terrific udder attachements, so many things in this herd! Width, strong pasturns, too many things to mention them all.
His daughters have been our highest butterfat % on their tests. We feel this is important as the nubians are well known for the high butterfat in their milk. We feel too many breeders are trying to just get more milk and fear the nubian lines will lose one of the important things, the high butterfat. The higher butterfat does we have also have shown a high protein %, this is what your cheese is made from. I can tell the difference between my cheese amount when I seperate and use mainly the milk from my higher butterfat does to make it. I end up with much more cheese when I'm through than if I just mix all the milk from the herd.
I am putting some udder shots of his daughters below, you can see why we think so highly of his offspring. |
