Opening #1: Dance in the Park (1975, 1976-1980)
From Ryan's Hope premiere on July 7, 1975, to August 1, 1975, the show used 16 milimeter film footage of Maeve (Helen Gallagher) and Johnny (Bernard Barrow) dancing with a young baby (Little John, perhaps?) for its opening. At the end of this film, the title appeared as Johnny held the baby up to the sky. The show's theme song was "Here's to Us," which was composed by Carey Gold. After just 20 episodes, this opening was abandoned in favor of a series of stills (click here for information on the second opening).

On November 8, 1976 [#348], this opening was reinstated and ran through the summer of 1977. During the summer of 1977, the opening was redone as a series of stills. This version of the opening lasted until February 29, 1980.
