Opening #2: The Picnic (1975-1976)
On August 4, 1975 [#0021], Ryan's Hope premiered its second opening after just twenty episodes. The new opening consisted of still slides of the Ryans (with Bucky and Faith) enjoying a picnic in a park. It ended, like the original opening, with Maeve and Johnny holding up Little John (or one of their own children when they were babies, not sure which) to the sky. The opening consisted of the following slides:
 
This opening was used until Friday, November 5, 1976 [#347]. On the following Monday [#348], the original opening was reinstated. That episode was Michael Hawkins' last, so it is possible that the original version was brought back because Michael Hawkins was featured heavily in this opening sequence. Faith Catlin, who appeared in one still from the opening, had also departed the show in May. However, despite the fact that her character was recast (first with Nancy Barrett, then with Catherine Hicks), she remained in the opening.
