We both went to school in Lockwood for 13 years, although we didn't meet until Leslie was a senior (and Ryan was a junior) in high school. We had an American literature class together so that was where we first met. We both grew up in the country so we never actually lived in Lockwood, but it was a central part of our lives growing up. With a population of only 1,000 people, Lockwood is just another small rural farming community in southwest Missouri. But just like every other small town, it's has unique character that just can't be duplicated. Both of our families still live in the Dade and Barton county area so we still make it back to Lockwood now and then. Here are just a few pictures and links from this little corner of the world.
Immanuel Lutheran Church
This is the largest church in Lockwood. Leslie and I were baptized, confirmed, and married here. Leslie's aunt, Toni Kreissler, has taught at the Lutheran School for many years.
For you out of towners . . .
Lockwood has been around for a while, but it hasn't grown much in over 100 years. You can also see that they're proud of their state championship basketball team; Ryan missed that team by one year, but he was a part of the '94-95 & '95-96 team, both of which got 2nd in state competition.
One stoplight town . . .
Here's a shot looking down Main Street. There are only two roads that go through Lockwood and Main St. (highway 97) is one of them. That's right, there's one blinking stoplight in Lockwood so you better come to a complete stop because someone you know will probably see you . . .
On Main Street
Here's a picture of one of the local shops that has been around forever. Although the street may look empty now, come parade time, Main Street is the place to be.
Where your food comes from
Not many people these days get to see both where their food comes from and where it ends up, but that's just common sense for people in a small town. To the left is the Lockwood MFA (where Leslie's aunt, Wanda, works) and above is the only supermarket in town.
Casey's General Store & Pump 'n' Pantry
Apparently even a one-horse town needs two gas stations. Leslie's teachers at the Lutheran school used to take her to Pump 'n' Pantry in the middle of the day for treats (not for rewards, for no particular reason)l. Small towns (and small-town schools) certainly do have their charms.
We hope to put some more stuff on here at some point, but we strongly encourage those from Lockwood to give us suggestions (and materials) to include on here. Just sign our guestbook or e-mail one of us at [email protected] or [email protected]. We are happy to support our hometown and all of our friends and family still residing there. Check out some of the links to Lockwood people, places, and things below.
Check out what's for lunch today or see all of the teachers' new webpages. Pretty fancy stuff.

Check out pictures of both of our graduating classes ('96 & '97)

Amy teaches at the Lockwood elementary school and shares Leslie's passion for collecting squirrels

Check out some mostly useless facts about the town of Lockwood

Interested in President Bush's eCampaign from his first election to office? This Lockwood graduate did his thesis on it so check it out.

The things you come across on the internet; this is just a picture of Chad Boehne hanging out on a captured Iraqi airfield.
