Our Hobbies
We like to do lots of stuff.  From hiking to plays to going to caves, Leslie and I have lots of hobbies we enjoy doing together.  We also have hobbies that are better left to ourselves, such as frisbee golf for me and completely rennovating our house for Leslie.  This page is dedicated to whatever pictures, links, or thoughts we could come up with concerning our hobbies.  Let us know if you think something is missing from this page (and don't say "more squirrels" because we've already exceeded the squirrel limit for this page).
DISC GOLF
Disc golf, better know as "frisbee golf" to the general public, is, of course, the coolest sport ever.  I just picked it up my last year of undergrad, but I've discovered that it is a sport with a rich tradition and history (it's been around since 1975).  There is also a Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) with many national and international competitions.  Their website also has a full set of rules for disc golf, which can be summarized as follows: it's just like regular golf, only you throw a frisbee instead of hitting a golf ball, and you aim for a metal basket instead of a hole (oh yeah, and it's FREE)..  As the following pictures will demonstrate, it's a game full of fun and friends, so look up the course nearest you today (there is a handy-dandy directory on the PDGA website that lists all of the registered courses in the U.S.)

Here's my friend Sarah, at the course in Columbia, MO, demonstrating how to putt from close up while I demonstrate how to putt from far away. . .
This is my friend Julie showing off her throwing prowess at the course in Columbus during her visit here.
Here are a few websites that are indispensable to the disc golf enthusiast:
This is a picture of me at the Hoover Dam course in Columbus (don't worry, you don't have to throw it over the dam for any of the holes, although that would be really cool).
This is a common occurrence when I frisbee golf with amateurs, that is, me fishing their frisbee out of the water because they can't reach it. It's sad for them, but you get used to it.

Although my "glory days" of high school basketball are long since over, I stll enjoy playing whenever I can.  It's always fun to get in on a pickup game at the rec center here at Ohio State.  Unfortunately, it seems the whole idea of team play is lost when you stop playing organized ball . . .
A couple of pictures of me competing in the state championships in high school.  My school (Lockwood) was lucky enough to make it to the final four for four years in a row.
YO-YOs
READING
Here's a picture of just my painted frisbees, I have a few more besides these.  I've only bought about 3 frisbees total, most of the rest have been scavenged on various courses. So you can see it pays to look in the trees and water just a little harder than everyone else.
My brother and I learned to yo-yo when we were in grade school, and we both have a fascination with them still today. Although I'm no pro I'm still learning tricks whenever I can. It's never too late to learn how to yo-yo!
This is most of my current yo-yo collection. It includes everything from an Amish yo-yo to an Easter egg yo-yo. I always keep an eye out for unique yo-yos to add to my collection.
No, this is not my yo-yo outfit; I was made to wear this hat on our honeymoon while yo-yoing in a gift shop. To see an equally embarrassing picture of Leslie, see our honeymoon pictures. . .
Not my idea, but Leslie thought it would be appropriate to have an extra cake at our wedding with a yo-yo on it (and for those of you who weren't there, we also had yo-yos on all of the reception tables).
SQUIRREL COLLECTING
I don't really know how this counts as a hobby, but I had to put pictures of Leslie's squirrels somewhere.
Here are some pictures of my squirrel collection, that, alas, I was forced to leave in Missouri. (However, I am slowly amassing a new collection in Ohio every time my relatives come to visit; just don't tell Ryan).

In fact, one of our first "dates" in high school consisted of playing Nerts on Leslie's living room floor over Christmas break.
