RV  SINGLES   Blog   Page

  Loadin' Up
I started a group in March, 2007, on  EONS.com  named RV SINGLES, dedicated to people who travel alone (or with pets) with their tents, campers/travel trailers, fifth-wheels and RV's.  We are living our desire to see the great things this country has to offer, OFF the 'beaten-traveled' paths.  This group, in its growth, indicates that we single RVers will increase in numbers, to become a noticeable percentage of this nation's expanding ranks of RVers!

This page is a doorway to our EONS group's posted ANNOUNCEMENTS, which are items of interest for those new to the RV world, or like me, still learning.  The announcements are first posted to EONS, with the intent of providing information for our members.  When cleared, they will reside here.

12)
Sound familiar?

Between the gasoline prices, heat of summer, and costs to park RV's nightly -- it "just keeps gettin' tougher all the time". Here's what I read recently. "The National Parks Conservation Association, a non-partisan group that lobbies on behalf of national parks, recently called on Congress to allow the park service to bring back the less expensive pass, which allowed free entry to the 145 parks that charge fees. Another 246 national park sites do not have entrance fees. The new America the Beautiful Pass can be used at about 2,000 recreation sites operated by the park service, the U.S. Forest Service and several other federal agencies. Meanwhile, the number of visitors to the national parks has been falling." -- To read this article in full, go to:<

11)   Free and/or bargain campgrounds ??

Just in time for the summer camping season, there's a new directory of free and inexpensive places where RVers can spend the night. Profiled are hundreds of camping locations throughout the United States, with dozens more appearing every week. Most locations are posted by website visitors, who share their favorite places and also update or comment on those already listed. Read all about it, at this link:

10)   Your Used RV Checklist

RV investments can be substantial investments, depending on what you're looking for. While googling, I happened upon another article which speaks to those individuals who are interested in "shopping" the used trailer and RV market. This list offers good reminders for us, in an effort to make our mini-home purchases enjoyable. Here's your link:

9)   Used RV Buying Tips

Used RVs give us the opportunity to save money, or get an rv with the features we want at a more affordable price than buying new. If you've decided to buy a used RV, you may find yourself a bit overwhelmed by the choices available.

While there are many good new and used RV deals around, make sure youre comfortable that youve made the right choice. Heres a great article of advice submitted by Lorry, and it just might give you extra food for thought! Click link below:

8)   Taking Care of Your Awning

Every time it rains (and we've had our share this Spring), rain water seeps into my rolled-up awning. When it is nice out, I always make a point of opening the awning and let it air dry, or mold spots will form on it. Here's a bit more information for you; to read, click on this link:

7)   10 Essentials when RVing with Dogs

On April 27, I'm "hitting the road" for a few days (see my latest blog entry). Like several of our members, I travel with my pets (2 dogs and a guinea pig!) One of the reasons I bought my little "motel on wheels" was to avoid boarding. The cost can add up [and it breaks my heart to do it!] Here's an article to share with you, at the link below, which contains some good tips . . . Talk to you when I get back!

6)   RV Walk-Thru Newsletter

If you are new to RV-ing, and thinking of buying a used unit, here's a good article by an "expert", sharing some good ideas of what to look for. It is frugal advice for BEFORE the purchase, rather than AFTER . . . Click on link below.

5)   RV Boondocking Opportunities & Tips

We all, as RVers, can help to keep the charges that formal RV Parks are currently levying for overnight stays and utilities at reasonable levels. If you are sufficiently aware of your options to staying overnight in RV Parks [some of which are much too pricey for what they offer], these RV Parks will need to bring-in-line their charges, simply in order to compete for your business. Click on the link below to read a great article which supplies information on 'boondocking', or dry camping.

4)   The 12-VOLT Side of Life

Last year, as I began introducing myself to the inside world of RV travel, I read this wonderful article (only 2 pages) by full-time RVer, Mark Nemeth. You'll be amazed how much you learn from these two pages, regarding a 12-volt battery system [the heart-and-soul of the little home on wheels]. Click this link -- view link -- [totally for the non-electrician!]

3)   Baby Boomers are flocking to the roads

Have you noticed more and more RVs on the highways and at your favorite vacation destination? There has been a steady increase in the number of people traveling by RV. Click link to read an entertaining story regarding RV safety on the roads: view link

Our generation defined the world "lifestyle" and now we are reaping (usually) the benefits. The "me" generation has changed the world, how we live and what's important. Join us as we continue the wild ride! ---Boomer Lifestyle website

2)   A new idea for you - Nitrogen in your tires?

Here's a suggestion that's fairly new to the RV market! Nitrogen for your tires. . . I found this tip last year, and had BOTH my vehicle and my TT 'gassed up' with this air! My tires on both were close to new, and I wanted to keep them that way. You can read more by clicking this link: view link

My small home-town tire center had this nitrogen available. It's likely that you can find it somewhere close to you, too! At about $4 per tire, I have traveled with much more peace-of-mind.
