This was my second trip to the Northwest Territory experiencing the Slave River, and it will not be my last. Last year we went at the end of the summer and I was in a very large boat, wave sport “Z”, and it was incredible. This year we went at the beginning of the summer and had a variety of boats, and stayed for a lot longer time.

With incredible high volume whitewater, great group dynamics and improved boat design, I began to explore areas in kayaking that I had never thought were possible. After experiencing this river from a freestyle perspective and as just a spectator I gained a new respect for all rivers by just the shear force from the river, especially this one, it has something very special.
